Came across this site when using BitVisitor - http://www.btccheap.com/index.html

It looks to be a mining service where you send in an amount of bitcoins and you get a percentage of their mining income after 2-3 days. I couldn't find a thread here about it, so I wanted to bring this before others. They supposedly are using the income to finance more than they could on their own, but couldn't really find any more details on how this should work or why such a short time for the turnaround. There is a page here that says what their current hardware is.

Any thoughts on this?

exact copy of mining united.

shit, its obviously a scam and people still defend it, it makes it tempting to anonymously create one of these sites, just like they did here.

I suppose we should bring that to BitVisitor's eyes then. I wish that one of these times that I find a site through BitVisitor I could actually end with it not being a scam.

they have not done any action on miningunited either.

as long as they get paid to advertise i do not think they care.
you have to remember, anyone that doesn't have their real identity available, really doesn't care if people get screwed.

shit, noone has even talked irl to pirate, much less abduct like what should be done.

I don't know about that.  There are entirely legitimate reasons for maintaining anonymity generally speaking - but if you're asking people to trust YOU with large amounts of readily-convertible real money, then you should be willing to trust them with enough contact information to locate and take appropriate action even if just in case you run have a mental breakdown or get hit by a bus.

That said, mathematically improbable enterprises don't get my money unless I'm fully prepared to gamble / donate.

If I've been able to help out, donations are always welcome.

BTCCheap.com is an obvious blatant copy of our website, MiningUnited.com.

We are in no way related and not responsible for any loss of BitCoin from using that website.

You're absolutely right, pheaonix.  Sorry about that.

Let me try that again:  I was trying to respond to the idea that obscuring your identity means you've either got something to hide, or that you don't care about somebody getting screwed.
But I missed your real point, and I see now what you were actually saying.  If you're anonymous, you're not exposed to the downside - only the person giving you money is.
Thus, if you want to avoid that exposure, don't deal with people whose identities you can't confirm - or don't deal with them in sums you aren't comfortable writing off.

Fair point.

If I've been able to help out, donations are always welcome.

I'm doing some research into this now.  So far the only thing I've found out is that the person/people behind it are likely Vietnamese (which means nothing and I will edit this post explaining more when I know).  I personally wouldn't use their service just based on the copy/paste job from Mining United.

Holy crap guys I got back the exact amount they said I would get from it.

So, I got my money back with a little interest, but it's the exact amount expected. Not bad to be able to mine exact amounts with no variance, am I right?

With that said, it's conceivable a ponzi scheme, with me getting paid out of somebody else's donation to the site. It's also possible that it's legit and maybe should be looked into.

According to MiningUnited (scammer) they claim that BTCCheap (another scammer) is attacking their web site and trying to shut them down.  Since they are both blatant scammers, anything is possible - except every one of both of their customers being able to make these returns for much longer.

Let's see what is going on right now (at the time I posted this):

http://miningunited.com <- hacked and taken down by btccheap, losers, not able to scam at the moment

http://btccheap.com <- still up and taking bets, the better hackers, still scamming at the moment

When will MiningUnited strike back?

Reminds me of one of my favorite scenes from the series Justified where he tries to arrest some bad guys and the bad guys get in an argument and end of shooting each other dead.  Maybe these two love birds will hack each other to pieces.

But you ARE responsible for running a ponzi scheme on miningunited.com and all the coins that people lost there. Or does your legal disclaimer saying you can abscond with everyone's money whenever you want make you guiltless?

The site is down, and blockchain.info shows a balance of 0.5, with some large payouts on 16-05-13.
Shame to boot, I was going to get my return tomorrow from that 0.1 I put in on 14-05-13 for science.
