I believe that neither as this will be overcome, except by inhumane methods, because the very issue of reproduction is laid in every living organism. Who are we, if all that remains of us after death is our descendants, our children, and we voluntarily renounce them (or forcefully) ?!

Hopefully this time we can reach into space to solve such an issue, instead of throwing missiles around that can make large parts of the world uninhabitable. That way, every country can have it's own planet to mess up (or rule cleanly). What is the best solution to resolve our problem in overpopulation?

there are too many ways resolve this but most of the easiest way are immoral. Its just a basic mathematics 1+1 should not be more than 2. By doing this you can control population and eventually lower it down. If two people marry and had a family they should be limited on having 2 child. But this is impossible to do now, why? This will have a negative effect on a country's economy. When you limit the number of child per family it is like limiting your working force in the future.

China had a one child policy years before to control their population but eventually stopped it because 15-30 years after its implementation it will decrease their work force by half.

So the best solution for over population the moral way is to have another space to occupy. Mars???

Most "Catholic" nations in Western Europe tend to be highly liberal. I don't know which countries but I believe abortion has been legal in the West for a long time already. Add to that that irreligious people tend to have less children and you'll have the pickle Europe is in now.

In contrast, Orthodox countries and Catholic countries in the New World still tend to be very conservative.

I think it should be first be dealt with awareness and education. Also it would be best to have ordinances in place calling for a one child or two child policy only for families once the education and awareness stage of the plan has been kicked into fruition.

I am living in India, which is having the 2nd largest population in the world (and it seems like we will be getting the top spot within the next 10-15 years). Even here, the politicians are opposed to population control measures. They view increasing population of slum dwellers as a good thing, as they tend to vote for them as opposed to the educated people.

Family planning which is greatly condemned by the church here in my country.  I do not know what is wrong with family planning and giving contraceptives.  In the first place, it will control the growth of population.  Moreover, most of the times, it will help to reduce the case of unwanted pregnancies by teenagers.  That leads sometime to abandon their offspring.  Maybe if the church will do something more aside from arguing with this, maybe they need to analyze other things.

I think we should provide people with better education so that they will not produce so much kids. Because one of the most important reasons why people have a lot of kids is just their inability to make something else. That is why by making kids they think of themselves as if they have done their life's task. Anyway when a person is smart enough they will prefer to create something more sophisticated and useful for a society than just another human being that will make an impact in destroying our world.

for me is simple. EDUCATION. why education?  because every one need to understand what we facing off and what we can do to make live in the world becomes better. we need to teach them how to think about generation we not only teach them about how overpopulation  could be dangerous to the humankind but also we teach everyone about how valuable to have a new generation to support live and to develope our civilization.
