Are you sure they are two different blockchains? Or maybe you just haven't downloaded enough blocks..
Definitely 2 completely different chains. I had 10 confirmed blocks + 2 immature blocks beforehand. After using the checkpoints and redownloading the blockchain I had 0. At the time I write this getinfo reports the block number to be 8247. I think I'm with you (8479 now) but we need someone that can set up an ABE or block explorer to see if we have 1600 (or whatever) blocks mined by the same person at the start of the chain now. Did you pull milkshake's latest git and all when you set the checkpoints? If you did I'm staying on this chain and going to bed. Sorry I don't have the skills for it or I would be checking this myself, too. edit: I guess it would just be enough to see the phrase in the first block, right?

Just pulled in the newest source from github and compiled. My config looks something like: rpcuser=rpcuser rpcpassword=PASSWORD rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 rpcport=10449 daemon=1 server=1 gen=0 addnode=199.204.38.220 addnode=96.126.118.229
Seems to start right up fine. Been running for 15 minutes or so with no segfault so far, I have some nodes connected to it (pushpool) and am getting a few blocks.

Honestly man the reward and this hash level is so low, it really doesn't matter until more people get onboard. A QT does need to be released in order to get more people on board, but you really aren't missing out on much until that happens anyways. Make sense? Block rewards 1....so don't stress, take this time to learn how to use daemon client w/o QT. This guy posted a good/quick tutorial: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=204910.msg2141969#msg2141969Hope this helps, X

It still could become orphaned FML! how will I know # of orphans in "getinfo?" I take it, it will just disappear? Use listtransactions to see your orphans. Thank you, it looks like it took! "generate" 371 confirms, and a crap load of orphans LOL. Oh well, it's doing what it's suppose to, this prevents high early premining until more hashing power brings up the block value.
