Watching this thread interestingly, i also live in UK so.    Any suggestion for a newbie who is struggling to understand this all assembly things? I need to buy chips somewhere else and provide you for assembly, paying your board and all assembly cost so i can get my miner ready for bitcoin mining, am i correct?

Well, you're right. I'm just a bit wary investing large-ish sums But it will probably be worth it. Thanks for the nudge

OK, the update I posted on 5 June....decent quote...you can basically forget....

The company will not deal with private customers, only company to company.....and im not a company, nor am I setting one up for this.... I firmly believe that BKK's board should be built as a non profit entity, being an opensource design.
My own profits, and the repay to BKK for the board is purely taken from the testing phase, costing you the end user nothing, but a small wait...

I have argued with this company now so much over this, I dont think they will touch me with a barge pole now....but thats ok I have a much friendlier company on board atm

Yep, b2c business is dirty. Laws, warranty, vat... Why on earth selling to customers?

Got another quote.....tis a fair bit more, works out at 80gbp per board (inc vat)

I havent decide on board yet so im not sure how many chips i will need for which board, let me check and calculate it first then i will give you a PM. You will actually be able to get a very decent hashrate for 1k thanks to these open hardware projects. It looks like the assembled K16 boards will cost just around £50 plus chips are ~0.1 BTC each which means a complete 4.5 GH/s miner should cost under £170 all in.

Thanks for the whole lot of explanation mate. I am willing to buy your spare chips when you have them. I am looking to build around 20 ghash/s machine to start so i need four k16 boards and 64 chips right?

Yes, something like that.

An alternative to the K16 board is a development by burnin who's building a 10/20 chip board (3/6 Gh/s) that should be stackable and use a single USB connection for up to 32 boards (boards interconnected via CAN-BUS). burnin is in Germany though.

I think the klondike has heat sensor, so speed maybe dependent...
Im not sure fans on the heatsink are needed, but I feel they should be included....if you take them off and refan or not, thats your choice
