I dont think ethereum will be affected even if dumped I predict it will increase its price. I dont think ethereum trading will stop on aug1, as bitcoin is the one that is affected. Somehow, lets just observed what will may happen this aug1.

No more august 1 issue, there will be no split that will happen on august 1 for split is currently on hold maybe,we should try to read news on cryptos blog, there were post that there is a voting that happens that make BIP91 successful.

Only bitcoins would be affected by the chainsplitting/segwit happening on August 1. All other altcoins including etherium would just keep moving up and down depending on trading volume they have on the market.

You know that there wont be a hardfork on 1st august right? Segwit is approved. BIP 91 just locked in. Up to 90 percent of all hash power signaled support for this soft fork, which implies miners intend, in turn, to trigger Segregated Witness (SegWit) activation. By extension, this should make BIP 148 obsolete and August 1 a non-event. So dont expect something extraordinary thing on this date

A lot of altcoins use Ethereum Smart Contracts, and the market cap is above $21M, so it's not gonna stop being traded in one day

I think in August Ethereum could have some unstable rates jumping, cause no one 100% knows what happens. The problems with Poloniex will affect on CryptoCoins like BTC and Ethereum. But after the OmiseGo start in 4th quarter of this year, Ethereum will jump high.

Of course the chains of ethereum and bitcoin are independent but it's incredible how bitcoin's trust affect all of the others. Now that the confidence is restored the money is comming back to all of them (at least to the strong and solid ones).

The suspension of ethereum trading for this bitcoin action is totally meaningless like you said. Their blockchains are seperated from each other and this is known by everybody. Ethereum has nothing to do with bitcoin transactions.

Will ETH also stop trading this JULY 31st to August 1 UTC in exchanger sites? and will USDT be affected in this BTC update?
This question is like asking what happened to bitcoin when ETH split to ETC and ETH, did people stop trading bitcoin? NO. Everything still goes as normal as nothing happen even exchange sites are only suspending the blockchain while every other thing goes as normal till when everything is clear about which direction to go. Maybe the fork will not even happen, who knows but everything suggests towards that.

Etherium is separate from bitcoin and will not be experiencing and fork as far as I know. The August 1 issue only affects bitcoin. The only affect could be a residual affect on price. People selling bitcoins could make all coins drop in price, or if people sell bitcoins and buy etherium, then the price of etherium could actually go up.

Even with the fork, bitcoin's still strong.

No, I do not think so, ethereum will continue to be traded in tether or other kind of fiat. There are many places supporting this kind of trading such as poloniex or coinbase. No need to waste your time waiting for bitcoin to finish its hard fork

Neither ETH nor USDT are related to BTC in any direct technical fashion. If an exchange does not stop trading in general (why should they?) those two won't be affected.

I think not, those who do the trading should be trying to get a profit of magnitude on the segments that occur on that date, many people are looking for opportunities to sell their ethereum while others are in a panic. And we know that ethereum is top coin for traders.
