There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

The bizarre thing is that CNC and FTC, both lame forks of LTC no different from the other 400 similar coins, are trading at more than twice the value of YAC.

Defies explanation

I don't think a coin that has a yak in it's logo can ever reach mainstream acceptance. Maybe as a joke coin, but certainly not as a serious contender in the crypto universe. I would put it on the same level as BBQ Coin, except that BQC was the original joke coin, so YAC is actually inferior to BQC.

There are official flags (of organizations and state regions) with animals on them, why it is not "serious" for cryptocoins?

If it wasn't bad enough that the coin has a yak in it's logo, imagine what people will think when they learn that the name stands for 'yet another alt-coin'.

Where's the originality in that? People want a catchy name that they haven't heard before, not regurgitated ones. I think having a good name can be instrumental to the success of a crypto-coin, and a bad name can be detrimental to a crypto even if it has a good innovative concept.

You have a point there definitely. Both YAC and JNK creators made coins that vere pretty innovative compared to crap that was and still announced here but both were half-arsed in naming their coins. Stupid and childish thing to do.

Though I think YAC managed to run away from the full name pretty much...  YAC is already used by almost anyone, that full name is rarely mentioned..

YACoin like YES!Coin ...as opposed to NOCoin. Better than OKPay because you don't sound so unsure about it. When teaching your kids about crypto-currencies you can call it YabadabadoCoins and the cool kids on the streets call em YAKS. "I got these Rollies, you got any YAKS?"
YACoin branding is much better than most other alts especially peepee, feather and china.
Ditching of 'yet another alt' is a must for obvious reasons. And if pocopoco isn't interested in moving forward with this we need to take it over.

I personally don't think ditching "yet another" is necessary. I quite like it, gives it some old school geek charm. Wink

Most people are just calling it YAC anyway.

i think YACOIN despite its name is a huge contender what do the two major cryptocurrencies have in common
BTC was the first sha-256 crypto (and yes the first crypto)
LTC was the first scrypt crypto
Correct me if i am wrong, but yacoin employs a new hashing algorithm so it will be the first of that type of hashing algorithm
So i think yacoin will stand out amongst the crowd of new coins

the most interesting thing about alt coins is how desperate people are to convince themselves the coin they've chosen is superior even if they don't actually understand how and it's destined to succeed!
