Hello ,

I've just finished designing the new CoinCard - A Cold Wallet card , the most secure and cheapest option to store your bitcoin - ethereum and other cryptos .
They're made of two sided anodized , dyed aluminium (They are resistant to scratches , fires and they don't crack  )
What do you think of the design ?

The design looks cool especially with that QR code on it. If its scratch resistant i hope that the QR code wont be effected if any scratches are there on it.
i have a few questions.
Where will the card be usable ?
which are the localities in which the cards will be supplied ?
Will we be able to export the private key ?

Isn't these are just anime type of pictures. Is it just an idea or you have one physically available. I want to see the physical form before i can try it. Also, how to load them and how are you planning to manage the security codes ? I mean it has to be on server and where the info of users will bebtracked and synchronised. Im not too techniqual thats why asking questions which may not need to be asked. The designs are very good but want to feel the real picture if any. :-)

The QR code will be still working even with scratches on it Wink

1 - ? The cards will act as a cold wallet to store your bitcois  / other cryptos . You can use it as well to receive your cryptos everywhere ( you just have to scan / copy the public address)

- Worldwide

-Yes , the user encrypts his private key (BIP38) and the encrypted key will be added to the card . To decrypt the key, you need the associated passphrase ^^ .

I will post a pic of the physical card when I will receive it ^^

I'm not the one creating the wallet .
Users will create the wallet https://walletgenerator.net/ here , then they will just provide me with the public key + encrypted private key (They are the only persons that can decrypt it) . Then I will just add their public and encrypted keys in the card.

Just it's not a connected a wallet, It doesn't come with an app , IT just store your cryptos in an offline mode so it ensures security

Sound cool but how will you deliver those physical card to users? How much you will be looking to make one of these cards and what about shipping fee to deliver it to Nepal?

Sound quite interesting and more secure than normal paper wallet.
Design looks good and actually I want to fell it physically.

Very nice idea @cozzee02. I searched online a while back if this type of cards existed but never find any. Personally, I will be definitely happy to use some, it's totally fit my needs
The design is nice but the only thing is, for example, you have altcoins logos on a Bitcoin card. The purists and evangelists won't be happy Grin
I am interested in owning some of those cards, do you have a website for me to bookmark?

Thank you for this idea. I think this is the way online crypto currency banks should be regulated. Everyday they must print off the coin address and balance of every customer in some real world type of media and have it encrypted as you have described and store it in fire proof vaults and then destroy/recycle it in the next 24 hours. Your monthly service fee would pay for that. So they have to find a way to make it fast and affordable. What happens if there is a solar flare or nuclear bomb or flood and your wallet server is destroyed?

The other form of regulation would be for them to have on deposit in some other fiat currency in some separated bank the equal amount of their customers reasonably projected balances for the coming end of month. That way if they become another Mt Gox they can atleast return their customers balances by transfer to another bank.

If there is anyone here that is friendly to the Calexit movement (California divorcing the USA and becoming our own country)? I'm writing an essay for the group about creating a regulated digital currency for the country of California. You guys know a lot more about crypto currencies than I do. Could you pm me and ask to read my essay (first draft) and tell me if I'm saying anything stupid or that doesn't make sense or is unrealistic?

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack your thread. I'll start a new thread about this subject if there is interest.

Okay seen your card design they look great. I was hoping that if we could just emboss our own pictures? Like a good memory or something. This will give more attractive look. Just consider it if you think that would be great idea.

Coming to technical discussions, you said that
Quote
the user encrypts his private key (BIP38) and the encrypted key will be added to the card . To decrypt the key, you need the associated passphrase ^^ .
But where to put the pass phrase exactly? I'm sorry I have not seen or used crypto card before so my question might be dumb one. But in general when I will put the card say for example on payment processor terminal then do I have to type in actual pass phrase each time I do the transaction? Or is it one time activity. Please share the knowledge as I need to know about crypto cards and want to collect them really. Nice project.

Quoting the images for the lazy heads.
I'm intrigued by the concept.

The said product is suppose to be storing bitcoins as a cold wallet, what happens if I lost card gets stolen or lost ? Will the new owner be able to have access to my private keys or they're stored in a centralised server in your database ? I hope you have the answers ready.
As far as the design is concerned,I like the first one.

Great way to save some bucks with the fees if you can use them for a long time. Instead of sending bitcoin to your friend, you give the card, then they give the card back to you and you re use again. In my opinion the first design you showed in better than the other. It may be weird to see some altcoins logo on a bitcoin card, but you add your own logo to it (in small size on the top of right for example) it makes sense

Your private key will not be stored in any server ever.

As they said previously in this thread, you will give them your private key encrypted with a password you choose previously, and they will make you the card with the BIP38 private key printed on the backside. If you lose the card, the new owner would have to brute force the password to have control over your coins.

Read in the same image you just quoted above what is written in the card.

To be honest no... I prefer the previous one you showed earlier. Sorry but I prefer to be honest and tell the truth instead to tell yeah it's good, to make you happy. But don't worry I am surely not able to make 10% of what you did  Grin
Someone mentioned about adding your logo, I find it a great idea, especially if you plan to do this with multiple cryptocurrencies

Seems to be nice project. You have got covered everything covered in terms of security majors. The encryption and decryption process is pretty awesome move towards added security. However, I was just curious if we can put security PIN like those of traditional cards? That would be so nice. I have seen similar project as part of ICO smart contracts. One was TenX who had TenX debit cards based on bitcoin. It had idea of converting bitcoins instantly to fast cash for real time use. Is this card is similar in the way we use it.

Hey I don't think this is a debit / credit card

This is just a cold wallet card where you can store your crypto Smiley

Though this thing looks impressive, I am thinking of another aspect of it which cannot be neglected.
As this is intended for cold storage of coins, there can be a grave consequence if it is lost and found by someone else. Isn't it a big risk we are thinking of just being impressed by the vanity factor of the card and staking our hard earned money ?

There is no risk if you lose the card.
The bip38 encrypted private key in printed in the card , so the person needs your passphrase to decrypt it
