Due to the controversies of the BIP 91 proposal, Bitcoin mining provider ViaBTC and other supporters are planning a hark fork on August 1st. It will be called Bitcoin Cash with a block size of 8mb.

Now, it would be up to debate whenever this separate chain becomes successful in the future and it gets the attention from major exchanges, businesses, and startups that support Bitcoin.

Do you think Bitcoin Cash might overcome the original Bitcoin we know and love in the future? Or will SegWit2x prevail and render other forks useless?

I would like to know your opinion about this Smiley

i find this a good altcoin for a free money airdrop lol, you can have plenty of free bitcoin buy just claiming it like you do with clamcoin, importing your wallet and it's done, but i really doubt this new scam coin can take on bitcoin, it seems a bunch of hangry nerd miners got hungry and are making their own shitcoin lmao

Bitcoin Cash is just another version of bitcoin made by people who are "not happy" with what SegWit could do for them (or at least not happy with what they could do with SegWit). Besides, who would want to rely billions of dollars to a code that was rushed by people that just aren't "happy" with SegWit? Roll Eyes

Personal opinion, not likely. In reality, it will depend on the adaptation, if companies/sites/exchanges start accepting it, it might gather some steam. For example, I just got an email from 1Broker regarding Bitcoin Cash that they will not support the split nor the distribution of Bitcoin Cash. Now, I don't know who supports what and what not but this will play a major role on Bitcoin Cash acceptance.

There is a poll in discussion thread about the possible outcomes of Bitcoin Cash, there is a coexist option, bitcoin and BCC would coexist with latter having a lower price than former, right now IMO it is not about coexistence, BCC ≠ BTC, so an altcoin and this is what defines BCC now, a cryptocurrency that is alternative to bitcoin, so many alternatives, not equal, so not bitcoin.

Would BCC overcome bitcoin in future is a tricky question to answer at this point in time. If I am right ETH, Bytecoin, Monero, Zcash have gone through forking and some got the better of originality and some got the better of the forked version.

No comparison between these cryptocurrencies and bitcoin, globally accepted first crypto, 9 years, $42 billion cap. Would a forked version of bitcoin be able to get a better of these stats, there is majority, super majority, economic majority, consensus. Let's see how it plays out.

Right now Segwit activation is what matters and personally I don't agree with hard fork three months after that. No efficient planning, lack of developers, lack of revewing by proficient developers, lack of testing, how much of all these can be achieved in three months. If I am right BU had messed up with their coding. A hard fork is not backwards compatible, messed up, and it is messed up. It was six months and then three months and now UAHF in midst of Segwit activation, what's this rush all about?

Bitcoin Cash will just be dumped by the time it can be traded in an exchange that would accept it. Right now, there are already some exchanges which issued statement that they will never be supporting Bitcoin Cash. Well, let's see how this new coin can behave. Bitcoin Cash can never overtake Bitcoin as we know that the original will be trusted more than its counterfeit.

Yeah. The big exchanges have already declared that they won't be supporting Bitcoin Cash, so it may not turn out to become a huge success when its begins trading after August 1st. Also, if Chinese miners decide to stay with the original Bitcoin, the forked version of the pioneer cryptocurrency will die eventually as a great minority will only use it.

But, we can never tell for sure what will happen after Bitcoin Cash emerges, since crypto land is extremely unpredictable. Perhaps, it would be able to survive just like Ethereum Classic did when it separated from Ethereum, or it will become another useless coin.

Nevertheless, it would be wise to keep close attention to Bitcoin Cash, in case it experiences a sudden popularity. Since Bitcoin holders would be able to claim Bitcoin Cash, they've got nothing to lose as they sell it for profit. Just sharing my thoughts Grin

It's actually in everyones interest that BCC does die or there will be forks at every turn in the future in order to get free coins or try unpopular ideas. I certainly hope we don't see an ETC kind of situation arising.

It is highly unlikely that bitcoin cash will overcome the original version but you never know how things will go in the future but i am expecting that bitcoin will hold its ground and strive for a better future and i am eagerly waiting to see what will happen this coming week.

I think no it will be still good to use bitcoin instead of using bitcoin cash and the use of bitcoin use already been succeed from past few years ..
So bitcoin will be still be the original because we already use bitcoin in many years If its not supported by some exchange site well expect that BCC will getting no value in the future and bitcoin will be still stay with a large value .
Like other said chinesse are want to stay using the orginal bitcoin instead of bitcoin cash that actually useless of using hard fork of bitcoin..
Well we will see the outcome after this week and hope the outcome will be good but i still believe the bitcoin cash will be useless.

In my own perception, nothing will ever overcome the original.  Bitcoin was around for almost a decade and continue to grow.

It's look like. Bitcoin value will skyrocket after SegWit

Mt prediction is it gets dumped - then sits low for a while - then gets pumped to co-exist at 10-20% of BTC price. I don't just see it fizzling away into nothing but also don't see it overtaking btc.

For now, there are no serious signs that Bitcoin Cash could overcome original Bitcoin. Even majority of wallets will not support BCC at the begining.
But I also don't believe that it will be dumped as some people says. I think that Bitcoin Cash can be strong altcoin, which may overcome current leaders. Now it's hard to say, everything is at speculations level. But I expect that we will see BCC in top 3 by market cap.

Due to the controversies of the BIP 91 proposal, Bitcoin mining provider ViaBTC and other supporters are planning a hark fork on August 1st. It will be called Bitcoin Cash with a block size of 8mb.
so far as i know this had nothing to do with BIP91.
it all started with BIP148 and bitmain trying to show off their power and calling for a hard fork ONLY in case BIP148 was successful. but since BIP91 locked in and now BIP141 (SegWit) has 100% support of the miners, bitmain announced they won't go through with it.

but ViaBTC picked it up and the entities behind bitcoinABC started pushing for it and advertising it.

the problem with bitcoin cash is that everyone considers it as an altcoin. and most people even see it as an insult because they are a small group trying to "force" a split disregarding the consensus that the majority reached.

it also doesn't offer anything special. they are increasing block size to a huge number all of a sudden and may eventually end up like coins with supernodes which is in fact centralizing bitcoin. and nobody wants that.

not to mention how easy it becomes to perform at least 4 different types of spam attack on their chain and their nodes to cripple them! i may start a topic about these types in the future. Wink

I am unlikely that the original bitcoin will be resolved by bitcoin cash, you know how it will run in the future andapun not yet know it. Bitcoin will survive and fight for a better future and I am vigorously, that's my hope in bitcoin.

I mean, isn't the whole reason of going to SEGWIT to stop spam attacks or limit the transaction data?

From what I gather it doesn't stop spam attacks. The spammers will be right back to it the next time they want an update.

BCC will not be able to overtake the BTC because the BTC is the king of all cryptocurrency, if the BTC loses its value, no altcoin will survive and the crypto world will collapse.
