Is anyone interested in adding or withdrawing money on mtgox with paxum? They seem better than LR.

Make sure you back up your wallet regularly! Unlike a bank account, nobody can help you if you lose access to your BTC.

I hope you are not going to get rid of LR, though? I got a significant amount of it recently just to get bitcoins from you!

Paxum is not all that interesting for smallish amount outside the US. Fees are much worst than LR. Although the BTC -> ATM is really interesting

What about Pecunix? The transaction fees don't seem to be that bad.

pecunix is cool, but its a pain in the ass to setup an account and use it I think the exact opposite -- creating a Pecunix account is free, and all it requires is filling out several HTML form fields. Couldn't be easier. Using the "Payment PIK" is slightly more annoying, but not much so.

Couldn't be easier. Using the "Payment PIK" is slightly more annoying, but not much so. Pecunix is the best digital currency system. Sidd has always supported PGP and the slightly annoying "PIK" validation system is immune to keylogger trojans. Full automation is possible and the staff are ever vigilant for new scams. Even if Bitcoin goes where we want it to, Pecunix will always be a better store of wealth. We need different kinds of money for different reasons. You can't directly compare Liberty Reserve with Paxum. LR is a digital currency and Paxum is a payment processor. Paxum is a vector for the currency called USD - a national fiat. Liberty Reserve is a privately issued currency, and although it is 'value pegged' to the USD, it is not USD. The legal implication is important to our purpose. I like to explain it this way; You cannot deposit a LR$ to your bank account and you cannot deposit a USD$ to your Liberty Reserve account. When we trade using fiat money, we are contracting with the issuing state. I would rather contract with my friends in Costa Rica than with the evil empire in Washington. This tacit agreement has been a weak point in online payment system and the only ones who can survive are the bitches like Paypal who suck the USD (Uncle Sam Dick). Dirty corrupt systems attract dirty corrupt (mis)users. You really can't compare LR to USD without understanding this important distinction. And then there is Pecunix which is golden!

Generally agreed (well, I think bitcoin is a better system, due to fewer SPOFs). Full automation is possible
Not true, unfortunately. They have a payment receipt (shopping cart) API, but their send-payment API is either disabled or locked down to a select number of "blessed" users. Lack of a generally available send-payment API is pecunix's main technical flaw at this juncture.

I did. Multiple times. No response. But even ignoring that experience, simply going by the website, there is no send-payment interface. Google turns up a post indicating that the send-payment interface was turned off. All signs point to "go away" though I'm happy you're apparently a member of the Sekrit API Club.

YES! ABSOLUTELY! (This thread is about Paxum on MtGox, by the way. ) I think many of you may be missing the point here... What if the question were phrased, "Would anyone here be interested in being able to shop in any store -- brick & mortar or online -- using a MasterCard/Visa... to "spend" Bitcoin directly from your MtGox account? Oh and by the way, you can also "withdrawal" your Bitcoin from MtGox using any ATM and get the local currency 24/7 anytime, anywhere...? Are you beginning to think differently about Jed's question? That system is called Paxum. By the way, I just created a Paxum account -- which was as fast and easy as creating a MtGox account -- and I'm ready to try it out!

I've not tried paxum, but I would try it if mtgox adds support for it. Please do!
