Maybe, if my friends are on it

"In a nutshell, the network works like a distributed timestamp server, stamping the first transaction to spend a coin. It takes advantage of the nature of information being easy to spread but hard to stifle." -- Satoshi

could be dangerous, what if you live in china?  I like the idea, but I don't like the idea of hostile groups knowing where all the Bitcoin users are... we are entering into interesting times with Bitcoin.

maybe the geotracking feature should be left out, and simply focus on group association.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a Bitcointalk facelift.

I am thinking something in the lines of a group site, same way that there are sites for artists, musicians, developers, why not a network of entirely bitcoin enthusiasts?

reddit is already well on the way to that.  and they're slicing up the bitcoin reddit into more manageable chunks, by interest grouping.

I think the current niche size is way too small to be viable, useful, or profitable.  I could be wrong.

Something that I certainly see the need for is an anonymous social network that collects zero information on its users, has strict rules about outing people, strips pictures and content of the identifying metadata, and allows connections based upon "interests" (or likes) alone eliminating the need to KYConn (know your connection).

It's the kind of idea that makes big data and big brother throw up in their data mining mouths, but one that I believe a certain type of user is very hungry for.  Many Bitcoiners would likely see value in such an outlet.  Screw facecrack, twatter, Puketerest, and all the other look at me social networks.  I want something where I can be as openly narcissistic as the fools on the other outlets are without claiming ownership of my personality disorder.  I envision a TOR based site with a clearnet mirror for browsing by TORtards.

Give me a global social media outlet that provides a faceless and nameless space to socialize with my keyboard comrades; and I'll be first in line.

Monetizing it would be the challenge, but I'm sure it could be done.

Seems pretty unnecessary. Nothing wrong with using existing social networks and sites like bitcointalk to achieve that same goal.

Coinster or Coinbook would be your options for a name. If you ask me, I’d take the first because it kind of reminds me of Friendster.  Smiley
