Thats because its a scam coin first it was Bitcoin-XT then Bitcoin-Unlimited, Bitcoin Classic, Bitcoin1, BitcoinABC, The name is meant to trick people into thinking its the real Bitcoin.

Is it free money or not? I was under the impression that it's value will drop hard, so it is practically worthless and pointless.

That's the consensus. But the consensus (in markets) is usually wrong. I.e. When everyone thinks the price is going to moon, it usually drops. This is why the commitment of traders (e.g. BTCUSD sentiment on BFXdata) is commonly used as an indicator by traders. It's important to know when the market is heavily weighted towards one position--that side will often get squeezed.

I don't think BCC is useful as an altcoin, but that doesn't mean it will be worthless. Speculators gonna speculate.

it is FREE money because it is practically copying the 16.4+ million bitcoin and gives the same amount to everyone 1:1
the value will drop because that is what happens when you give free money to people. just the same as altcoin airdrops to bitcoin holders. (check a couple of them and you'll see).

becoming worthless and die is another discussion though. there are a lot of things at play for that in my opinion. the main thing will be mining. you see bitcoin mining is very expensive and the only source of income for the miners comes from the coin's price and when it is low and falling they can not continue mining for long because they will be losing a large amount of money for the costs of mining and missing the opportunity to mine bitcoin and get the high priced coin instead.

ps. i don't understand what is wrong with "bcash" and "bitcash" LOL, they are short forms. if you want to bitch about names then do it for "bcrash" instead

Haha but when have some news talking about hold Bitcoin can receive "free coin" Bitcoin Cash, a huge number trader sell their altcoin with cheap price and going to Bitcoin just want for receive it after SegWit. Changing the symbol from BCC to BCH on the client and websites would help the brand as BCC is already taken. ViaBTC can't just expect BitConnect to go away just because they would rather use BCC for Bitcoin Cash. It looks like several exchanges are standardizing on BCH (BCash). Trezor has also. Having the brand consistent across exchanges is good for business and avoids confusing buyers.

Yobit gave everyone free BitcoinCash last night, so they are trading something that doesn't exist yet lol. Ticker there is BCC and in the other Exchanges, it's BCH and BCF lol. Oh what confusion we weave rofl.  I will get less than half a BTC of BCH so that won't make much difference to me, a restaurant meal or a gift or my Son at most. If the price tanks then I might scoop up a few.

People behind BitcoinCash should have made their research well before using the ticker BCC. We already know that it is being used by BitconnectCoin (BCC) so there is no point for them to continually use the same ticker as it can create some form of confusion. Good thing they are now using another ticker but this can be not a good sign for a new altcoin though I am still wishing BCH a good luck since I might also have them in Bittrex as a free coin.

I viewed BCH as something like an enemy of Bitcoin but I am now changing that view since there can be a space for BCH in the big cryptocurrency market we have. Let it have a life of its own though nobody expecting it to be so big...especially that it can easily be compared with the real Bitcoin.

I think Bittrash is the more appropriate name and it also resolves the issue with the ticker.
