Write in this thread if you think, that moderators are deleting too much with the new rules. New forum rules discourage libertarians, developers and business people, basically anyone who contributes valuable content to the forum. New forum rules attract only kids fresh out of school.

What they wrote in FAQs like "some users here have prickly shells, but we've grown to love them", this is not true anymore. Basically now unusual and insightful opinions can be deleted. And often are deleted, because mods are oversensitive. They promise free speech, but they aren't men of word. There is no free speech here, and no respect for user's time. If you want to have a forum for kids run by kids, go on and keep the current level of deleting posts.

Bitcoin was advertised as libertarian currency. But for some undisclosed reason the owners of this forum changed their minds. Now we are heading towards bitcoin currency regulated by governments and have the bitcoin forum without free speech, which means the whole thing is not libertarian at all.

Quote
The policy to not remove anything worked when the forum was small. Now that we have thousands of posts a day, we can't afford 50% of them being junk. The moderators are now instructed to be less tolerant of low-value posts.

Some guidelines:

1. Free speech - you can say anything as long as it is relevant and presented in a calm and polite manner. Swearing, SHOUTING etc. make your post more likely to be removed.
2. No zero value posts or threads, like "SELL SELL SELL"
3. No pointless or uninteresting threads.
4. No referral code spam
5. No NSFW content
The world would be way worse if people like you ran it. Look outside your window. The only thing keeping another person/neanderthal from jumping into your house and killing you for your belongings is this society that you seem to despise so much. Once again I ask all you ULTRA-Libertines to LOOK OUT SIDE THE WINDOW.

The reason they want to break into your windows and steal all your stuff is because of this society.

I am in broad agreement with 'unemployed'.

Vegetta, oddly for someone who is (presumably) supportive of these new rules, your opening gambit in this thread is in breach of much of section one, even putting aside the unwarranted hostility and seeming inability to respond politely and calmly - your capitalized 'shouting' alone sees you break these rules.

Your post, along with this thread, is pure rat shit. It shouldn't be in the top of the forum, and people should just let it die here..

If there was something I said in my post that was wrong please point it out and I will try and clarify my point.

But as it stands my point remains, the very rules you are so vehemently defending you, yourself, are in breach of.

Don't try to paint me as the bad guy here sir. You guys are the ones sitting here arguing against basic rules that the majority of this community agree with. Go look at my posts, I am here to have serious discussions about the future of this beautiful currency. Not debate with you or anyone else about whether or not people should be able to post

SELL SELL SELL
SELL SELL SELL
SELL SELL SELL
BUY BUY BUY
BUY BUY BUY
BUY BUY BUY

50X a day. I'm sorry this post once again is pure RAT SHIT, and on it's way to being upgraded to cat piss.

'Bad guy' ?

Not at all, I am not someone who supports this kind of moderation, so I am 'against' these rules (at least in their current form / as listed).

I am all for you being able post as you see fit, I am just pointing out that if you do support these rules then you are not following them.

I'm sorry this post once again is pure RAT SHIT, and on it's way to being upgraded to cat piss.

Again, I think my posts have been entirely reasonable.

i'm in support of moderation.  although i'd prefer a self-moderating approach like the one DailyKos uses, as i've mentioned before.

with all of everybody's nattering about rights, ideals, and blah blah blah, nobody has pointed out two obvious realities:

1.) this is not "our" forum.  we don't pay for it.  we are guests.  and

2.) whether you care to admit it or not (n.b., perhaps you are one such), there are people in this world who get up in the morning, and their first thought is: "who can i hurt today?  what damage can i do?  what can i destroy that someone else has built?"

oh:  and then there are the trolls who are paid...

Your's have but you know this entire thread was made with ill-intentions -filled with spite- and I won't reply again, since our discussion (has been reasonable) only legitimizes this hit job. See you in another thread. In a perfect world I would agree with your ideology of freedom and self expression. But unfortunately we live in a greedy planet, filled with fear, and psychological set backs, and then cherry coated by laziness. If you let that run wild in a public forum of this magnitued, your going to get 90% spam posts.

1.) this is not "our" forum.  we don't pay for it.  we are guests.  and

Entitlement syndrome is an ugly disease. Sadly it seems to effect not only the young people of today but even full grown adults.

Do read what Jaime wrote above. This is not "your" forum or "our" forum. You are using something somebody else is paying for.
Be grateful you get to voice your opinion here or start a new forum & get traffic to it.

Guys, guys, guys, they are not merely locking/deleting stuff that is trolly, they are doing it to stuff that is relevant. they just stopped 3 discussions on the mt gox/kevin stuff for god sake. this truly is a shame. It is as simple as this - mods have friends, people pick on these friends, mods use their power to stop the discussion. if you don't know this, then you are not reading the forums enough to see it.

part of using this forum is that you have to accept that you are not looking at an accurate portrayal of the community, you are looking at a portrayal of how the mods think the community should be seen. i still read news articles, it is the same thing. some individuals opinions, not everyones.

. . . you know this entire thread was made with ill-intentions -filled with spite . . .

We will just have to agree to disagree here, I can see no ill intent in the OP nor justification for the idea that it is 'filled with spite'.

It seems like an attempt at a discussion about the new forum rules, an attempt that has been met with fairly naked hostility (and even 'spite') that is not present in the OP.

Why do you ban me if I use Tor? Is this really necessary?

That this is a private forum where the owners have full right to do whatever they please to people's posts is beyond dispute. It is, however, also a community. If it is the wish of the site owner and the mods and admins they have installed to run a dictatorship, they are free to do so and people are free to go elsewhere. It has not, however, been established that that is the case. I believe the mods are here to keep things running smoothly, that is, to serve the community. That being the case, they would be wise to take into consideration input from forum users, and I expect they do.

My input, then is what I've said elsewhere already: Do not delete anything if not absolutely necessary (legal threats come to mind). Locking threads and maybe moving to a trash bin section of the forum would suffice just fine. I agree this forum could do with a lot more civility and restraint, I just hope a middle ground can be found where the moderation process remains transparent enough that I can still believe the mods act in good faith. If not, I may well take the fine advice so many here are happy to give and leave. We're not at that point yet, though.

Selling out to advertisers shows you respect neither yourself nor the rest of us.

Unemployed so you evolved from begging for Bitcoins, to Trolling, to Bitching about not being able to troll and being an absurd fundamentalist.
Asking for change gave me 2.5 times more income than writing the Bitcoin Tool. So maybe it was smarter.
