What do you guys feel the price of the bitcoin will be by Friday? What are you going to do once MTGOX opens... You cashing out? Or are you going to get the trading on?

" I'm going to keep trading"

Exchanges have been up the entire time. People should stop treating MtGox like "the exchange". Otherwise the value of bitcoins is tied to MtGox which clearly isn't good.

But if yoi compare the trading volumes MtGox is "the exchange"

As far as I'm concerned the problems at Mt.Gox have nothing to do with bitcoin. I still believe it is a viable monetary system with a big future. Of course I'm going to continue using it.

The fact that professional thieves are targeting BTC shows they believe in it's value also. And this is just the beginning. Right now the risk/reward ratio for stealing bitcoins is very favorable if you are a criminal. They are easy to steal, it is easy to get away with stealing, and it is doubtful that the police will come after you.
These problems are being addressed and BTC will become much more secure in the future. When it does the price will likely go way up again.
I'm planning on buying as soon as trading begins again. I hope to find some deals while everyone is unsure and offering low prices.

Wish forlornly that I had not purchased at $17.50 approximately 4 hours before the incident with no remaining funds in Mt Gox remaining to buy into what looks like some panic selling that will occur :-)

We're in the same boat.  I didn't have much USD in MtGox but what I did was shot at $17.00.  I accidentally sold my coins at about $15.75 then chased the price up to $17 when I finally caught it.  That was my max trade amount before pulling the funds.  About an hour after the trade the bottom fell out.  I'm glad I diversified to other exchanges but it hasn't been pretty anywhere else either.

Oh, and to answer the question at hand I intend to sell immediately then use the money in the account plus another injection from Dwolla to pick up on the way down.  I'll be targeting my orders between $0.01 and ~$5.00.  If it never recovers then I haven't lost more than the value of a long weekend in Vegas (market wide).  If it does then I'll come out a winner.  Either way it's a game and the only real difference between this and Vegas is MtGox doesn't give out free drinks.

Maybe they should start...

Best of luck to everyone in the market and those working to get MtGox back in business.

Your forgetting SR buyers who have been unable to buy anything in a week due to SR outages followed by this mess. Their funds are all tied up in Mt Gox.

SR buyers provide a strong demand because they don't care what the exchange rate is.. they aren't using it as a commodity to day trade like a lot of people on this forum..
Most sellers on SR put up by USD amount, and the BTC amount changes in accordance with the exchange rate.

uh yeah.. that was exactly my point. They don't care if a BTC is $.01 or $100. The prices are locked to USD and they are going to exchange and spend 20 minutes later.

Who are these SR buyers? And what are they spending BTC on?
