C´mon... read a little before asking the questions. And make them a little less open. No one here can give you a full lesson/advice/opinion in a single thread.
Poloniex as other exchanges experience problems so go there at your own discretion.
What worked for me at the begining was using a feature that allows you to lend money to traders inside the exchage. It´s calling margin trading lending. You won´t get rich from this but it will allow to spend some time around the exchange looking at how it works, reading the charts before puting you money in trading your self and loose...

The rule is really basic, you must buy low and sell high in order to make profit. Taking poloniex as your exchange platform was a very good decision as they are secure, good limits and the highest trading volume and the most supported coins so you have a lot of possibilities. I advice you to invest into coins that exists for a reason and has a bright future (check the team behind it, the development, roadmap etc.) and not with pump-dump coins because these can end up badly. |

Why was this thread even here? I thought it'll be better titled "how to trade?" And placed on beginners and helps or maybe trading discussion? As this thread is basically asking for tips and not discussing an exchanger's service

 Poloniex is just like forex exchange platform where you have to first invest some bitcoin to buy altcoins and you have to hold them for short to long term to sell it at higher price than at which you have bought them. But you need to first build trading skill with low amount of bitcoin and than gradually you can increase your investment but you can also loss all you have invested if you don't know what you are doing. so first learn about how crypto trading work, buy some bitcoin and start trading. |

In terms of earnings, particularly in trading whether the exchange was Poloniex, c-cex, bittrex or etc. You must use your exploration in learning into something. You must exert your own effort, and time for this matter. If you want big profit, of course you must also invest big capital for you to achieve it. Try to read most often in bitcointalk forum. |

poloniex is just a platform that is offering some services, using those services only if you know how to you can earn some money (or more accurately earn bitcoin). those services are trading, margin trading and lending. each of these are different and probably lending is the easiest one. but what is most popular is the trading part. for that you need to learn it. trading may seem easy and profitable from outside but trust me when i say it is not. it is hard if you have no experience and you will lose a lot of money if you jump in without knowledge. start reading this board, tradingview website and investopedia. and then start watching the price movements for a while, you'll learn everything in no time. |

Seems like a spammy thread. Anyway to answer the OP, you just need to buy low and sell high. Its the basic principle of trading. Poloniex is the same as any other stock trading market. You can get tips from actual trading experts and analysts but their experience may not apply to crypto trading. They say time goes 5x faster in crypto trading.

Sure, lending is the easiest one. There's very little analysis to be done. But it also is never worth the 3rd party exchange risk. The gains from lending are generally paltry compared to the gains you can make from trading. The 10-baggers and whales made in altcoins are the only reason to keep any bitcoins on Poloniex. That exchange is a ticking time bomb. The complaints of missing deposits/withdrawals go back months. If it doesn't go full-on Cryptsy, then it might be in hot water with the US authorities because it isn't licensed as an MSB... |

Poloniex is more on a altcoin trading site and you can earn huge amount of money using poloniex if you know how to trade altcoins very well and if you are an active trader because active traders has a higher chance to earn huge money because they can easily observe the market of altcoins. In fact, you can also use other exchanges because they can help you to earn money also by doing arbitrage and other kind of trading. |

and you want to use Poloniex as an exchanger for doing a trading ?
well,
all i can say is 'you will not get what you called 'HUGE MONEY' in there'.
because in there a lot of newbies will not get profit instead will get loses,other than that also that exchanger doing a shady activity,
so,who knows what will happen to you after you're depositing your account ?
just trade in a normal exchanger out there,such as Bittrex,Kraken and other exchanger.
doing trading it's very risky and doing it on shady exchanger = suicide

I don't think anyone will be able to give you a straight answer, even if they wanted to. Everything has risks, but for me, the option that seems to be working best, is their lending option. If you have a decent amount of BTC you can win a lot, but even if you don't, given the BTC price, I think you can have some decent profit out of it, if you manage to get decent lending rates. |

Yes, it's better to learn the basic things in trading or have someone who can teach you the last is learning while doing, trading at random without anyone guiding because for the newbie it's like you're walking around a trap. |

Poloniex is just a crypto exchange site and you just have to make trading there to earn a profit, that way you can earn money from trading you have done in poloniex. You will not be able to earn money in poloniex if you do nothing there. |

Poloniex is just a crypto exchange site and you just have to make trading there to earn a profit, that way you can earn money from trading you have done in poloniex. You will not be able to earn money in poloniex if you do nothing there. Exactly! |

Haha Poloniex just is platform exchange helps trader can easy starting exchange and earning profit from buy low, sell high. However they still give professional trader a opportunity trading margin earning profit from any trend (bear or bull on market).
