and how do you calculate the *right* amount? Cheesy
guess you're using some sort of online calculator. they all consider a perfect situation when you're lucky to get block solved in time and 10x more lucky to get that block not orphaned/rejected. you've got to deal with it, that's how currencies with < 1 minute per block work. this was built not for mining profit but for instant transactions which are necessary to make a serious business around it. imagine buying a cup of coffee with bitcoin. while your transaction is confirming it'll go ice cold. and with worldcoin it's confirmed before your coffee is even served.

p2pools just arent that transparent. they don't show orphaned blocks in stats. you'll be surprised to see how much orphans there are for real. and this is a common situation when hashrate skyrockets like 2x from it was before on a same difficulty. that means there are like 8 blocks per minute instead of 4 blocks expected.
and guess who's guilty? pool hoppers! they pop out when diff raise and pop back in when it goes down, making hashrate go up and down like crazy thus making network less stable. and then they're whining like why don't we get those coins that calculator shows? :E
actually there was the same profit when diffuculty raised and hoppers gone out. we got less orphans thus making us digging same amount of coins with higher difficulty, lol.

Reminds me of how women think the grass is greener in other pastures  Cheesy

It's all luck guys, in 24 hours it would be the other way around.
You need to choose a high bandwidth, DDOS protected pool with transparency and features.
Sorry but erundook's pools are far superior to what else I've seen in the end.  Roll Eyes

Well I spent more than 24 hours there and it wasn't getting better. When I switched to the new pool I as getting ~85% of the coins the calculators show. So even accounting for orphans, overly optimistic calculators, etc., a 25% improvement in coins is well worth the switch; sometimes the grass is greener.

Well if you don't mind jumping your miners around a lot.
Problem is, sometimes you might jump around while the place you just left becomes more efficient.
It usually all evens out in the end, just make sure the pool is transparent and DDOS proof, and I'm not sure p2p is.

Totally agree with all you are saying, and I am not in the habit of jumping around, when I find a pool I like I usually stay put. But in this case, seeing as I was only getting 60% expected payout for a great length of time, I felt I needed to shop around.

I didn't take the move lightly, and actually started by moving only 1/2 of my hash power. The first alternative pool I tried I stayed for about 16 hours and the results were about the same, so I tried yet another pool. After about 8 hours, at my now current pool, I noticed I was getting about 3 coins to every 2 at this old pool. Just to be safe, I waited another 8 hours and when the trend held, I moved the rest of my miners over. Now about 24 hours in at my new pool, I am getting a solid ~85-90% compared to the best-case calculations, which no matter how you look at it, it is definitely better than 60-65%.

If you really want to know, you can PM me and I can tell you where I moved to. You can probably figure out the pools I left if you follow my posts. I am only going by my own findings, so I encourage everyone to do their own research and come to their own conclusions. Also, factors such as proximity to the pool, etc. come in to play, so while one pool may be better for me doesn't mean it will be the same for you. Latency (ping) and Tracert tests can be a good first step.

Here is another great P2Pool for WDC Coin

crypto-coins.de:8908

As usual for P2Pool, just Point your miners on the above adress using your Wallett Adress as Username and a random passwort

Example:

Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -u Wc27kGnE5nHa2tvhmsCVTb3uCic3fZsDa4 -p hsdrtu89dfgdhfg8 -o crypto-coins.de:8908

See stats at www.crypto-coins.de:8908

Pool Fee ist 0 %
