I've gotten the backend processing unstuck, and it looks like things are running properly again...ended up rebooting the VM for the first time in a while to clean out some zombie processes. Payouts are caught up. It looks like the only thing not updating properly now is the exchange rate at the top, and that's probably a result of a Cryptsy API change. I fixed the bit of code that grabs the exchange rate from Cryptsy, so that's getting updated properly now...was up about 3x from when it had last been updated, too. :-) The cron job that handles updates for mmcfe-ng now runs every 5 minutes; every 2 minutes might've been a bit too quick.
Maintenance mode has been turned off; bitgem.dyndns.org should be back to normal.

So Mineral.... what are the chances of coding in a network hashrate feature? Yes, I could include an estimate of hashrate PoW, but do not know to what extent it would be an accurate measurement. I will add it into next release.

About a possible Roadmap, I am planning to release a version in a couple of weeks with the possibility of shipping gems directly.

This is very exiting to hear! The prospect of so many derivatives of one coin is mind blowing really. I seriously cannot wait to start sending and receiving these little gems.

How many Dev's does Bitgem have?
Any time frames for additions to the coin?
Hi, thanks for your interest. Over time, BitGem Project has had several partners who have participated in more or less active way. The project maintains a master branch and another experimental branch, called sapphire, which is contributed privately, and contains the developments currently being tested, mainly BitGemWallet. Other development, like Simple 4C Model, is already merged into master branch. You can see it in commits: https://github.com/bitgem/bitgem/commits/masterDevelopers like SunnyKing they assisted in project specific points, especially with regard PoS. Other devs like Franko dev also made contributions for improvement. In addition, other BTG holders with excellent tech background have actively contributed in BitGem, either detecting bugs or suggesting improvements. About a possible Roadmap, I am planning to release a version in a couple of weeks with the possibility of shipping gems directly. This is very exiting to hear! The prospect of so many derivatives of one coin is mind blowing really. I seriously cannot wait to start sending and receiving these little gems.

Hi, I just wanted to say that I sold half of my Dogecoin to invest into Bitgem and am now the proud owner of a couple dozen BTG!
I think we should brainstorm up some marketing ideas to help our community grow, build support, and attract other investors. Any ideas?
Keep up the good work, mineral, and others!

Since the difficulty is up - we have also started a BTG pool... http://btg.jtcpools.org/THE BASICS 1% pool fee, PPLNS, Stratum - VARDIFF, only 240 confirms Help us MINE FOR GOOD! It isn't just a slogan! We are a Christian organization, and we believe in letting our light shine. You can mine with us and know that your fees and donations will be doing good work. 30% of all proceeds are donated to the following efforts: 15% to Lifewater International (Help eliminate water-borne disease and help people get access to safe water) 15% to Samaritan's Purse (World disaster relief) That's 30% directly off the top before we pay bills or ourselves. We believe in supporting the mining community and we believe in the future of crypocurrency - like you do, so let's work together and do good while we're at it.

Thanks but I'm still confused. Do you mean we're not going to see many more today, or ever? Is there an overall cap... like say... 200,000 BTG after 10 years?

That gets rounded a fair bit. If you're running bitgemd (or presumably one of the GUI clients), something like this will work: This is what it returned a few minutes ago: { "proof-of-work" : 3.85094377, "proof-of-stake" : 0.00390625, "search-interval" : 1 }

Question... What is Bitgem's Proof of Stake like. What is its monthly/yearly ROI? How often does it stake/mint?
