Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Probably dumb question, but I don't want to setup every machine I have to run proxy.  All my GPU's run stratum, but is there a way to connect my processor farm w/o setting up stratum proxy?  Can you do a non stratum pool (http://)? or is it really worth your time?

Thanks!

Windows users are having difficulty in getting the WDC wallet to connect to the network and sync, it is thought it might be a windows firewall issues, is there any insight on this?

I haven't had any issues at all with the wallet on windows 7 x64.  To see if it the windows firewall, you can just temporarily disable the windows firewall and see if it fixes the issue.  If it does fix the issue, you can create a rule in the firewall to allow the QT program.  If it's not the windows firewall, you might try forwarding the port to your computer through your router/hardware firewall.

A thorough reconfiguration of windows firewall "rules" has been made to allow the WDC QT executable communications inbound and outbound, no affect. Using a windows testbed computer with standard and default settings, modified to allow the wallet to run, there is no CPU utilization by the wallet, no network traffic on any port associated with the wallet, etc ...

Turning the firewall off completely had no effect. I've been using windows at a professional level for several decades. BTC, LTC, FTC, CNC, and even the Yacoin wallet all work without any issues, this is the only wallet to date that I've had issues with.

Payouts are often, as it stands right now on average between 1-8 minutes as an estimate (most usually 1-4 minutes).

Running well at ~110MH/s, but... need some more miners guys Wink.

What are you using to connect to the pool?
Just using cgminer as the miner.
Changed the url from http to stratum+tcp and now all I'm getting is:
Stratum from pool 0 detected new block
Stratum from pool 0 requested work restart

I have these as the main args:
Code:
cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://212.48.67.50:8336 -u walletaddress -p x --expiry 1 --queue 0 --fix-protocol

it seems you have the same bug as p2pool have, there is no way to fix it(anyone hasen't fixed it), only way is high hash miners mine it. or less ppl mine it... i was having same issue when got 80Mh/s on pool, now when less than 20Mh it work fine

Hi mrvegad,

You must be connected at least 1 hour to the pool (ideally 3+) to start receiving payouts due to the nature of p2pool.

Check in around 1.5 hours time and you should start to see payouts begin.

Thanks

Hello

How does this pool work? I have been mining for 30 mins with over 600 accepted shares but I don't see my miner under the stats? WZ1v5x9EcfXeodk5nN2HWYeBfGVAfAF3vT

Thank you

Hi mrvegad,

You must be connected at least 1 hour to the pool (ideally 3+) to start receiving payouts due to the nature of p2pool.

Check in around 1.5 hours time and you should start to see payouts begin.

Thanks

Thank you for the quick reply!

No problem.

Further optimisation applied.

Posting over here now. Yea, I dunno what was up between 2-3AM EST and why my shares weren't counting, but I'm receiving payments now after mining for about 15 minutes. I also added the +0.00087310 and now the share difficulty is 57 which seems much more manageable. Will update again in a few hours.

I was connected for about 25 minutes. Yesterday, I was connected for a while, maybe ~45 mins-1hr, I didn't get anything.

I have tried stratum and no stratum.

Settings look fine, wait around 1-1.5 hours and see if payments get processed.  You must stay at least 1 hour on the pool, ideally 3+ to start receiving stable payouts.

Also, try Stratum - it is much better.  Keep me updated.

Well, it's been quite a few hours now, and things are working excellently for me now. I ended up using the 1000kh setting (making shares of diff 76) and i'm getting good payouts frequently. Looks like I found my pool!

Hi,

No that's not normal. This means you need to tweak your miner config (intensity etc).

Not sure why, pool is operating fine. Perhaps try another miner program.

Remember the settings in the original post are basic, and need to be competed by following mining connecting guides.

No, it should save and pickup where you left off on that round. If not, you will still be paid.

Pool has been up - only one DDOS occured here been running fine for 10+ hours @ 115MH/s.

Hmm, I've been mining with default settings during the night and I got some wtc when I synced my worldcoin client. Then I changed my settings (added +0.0000xxxx type of thing) and I have been mining for 2-3 hours since then with a few thousand accepted shares but nothing appears in my client nor on the pool's website.

Do you have to wait again after changing settings?

wtc address is: WbpUUAUTWkiKFn1MbCQ5rvxThjToYACgn8 if that makes a difference.

Is the client still synced? Did you stop and start the miner after adding the optimisation (+00...) to your address?

After 1 hour of mining you should start to receive payouts - I have noticed the payout section wallets aren't always there but still get paid.

Last payouts were two at 22 past, one at 23 past and one at 24 past so they are coming through from the sever end.

I completely stopped the miner then changed the settings and then started it again. Should I stop it again and try to keep it stopped for a little bit longer?
Wtc client is snyced and nothing shows up, including in 'unconfirmed' and my miner has been reports accepted shares (2000 and counting) every second for the last 3 hours (~2 hours and 45 minutes). I notice that my address is there on the 'graph' section of the website but according to it I've only mined around 3.20 am and have a silly hashrate.

I use cudaminer without stratum for what is worth.

Strange, not sure why. Can you try another miner such as GUIMiner and use Stratum? Also need to be using -scrypt command.

I'm not sure why you are having problems, everyone else seems to be fine so the pool itself is running normal.

I just tried other miners but only cudaminer (which is also used by guiminer) can use my Nvidia card properly. Clearly it worked at some point because I can be seen in the graph in the middle of the night and because I have been paid 3.6 wtc in blocks of .15. You said that there were recent payments sent to my address? How come those haven't gotten through. And if I've been mining and the server has been accepting the shares then what is happening with the wtcs mined from that work?
I am going to leave it offline for a bit and check if anything arrives.

Also, I was curious if there is any way to check in the worldcoin client which pool your wtc coins in from (since they show up as type: mined)

Working great the last 10 hours since I joined. Thanks!
One question, I can't find if there is a way to see invidual stats per adress in the p2pool api. Like hashrate or shares.
You have any idea about this?

edit: mmm, not getting payments in the last two hours. But was working perfect before that.
CGMiner showing shares accepted and the WDC client open with multiples connections.
There is some problem in the server?

The payouts I quoted were times of payouts at that time for everyone, not specific to your address.

I'm not sure why it isn't working for you, even now the payouts have been constant as always, paying out every 1-8 minutes (sometimes twice a minute). Sorry I can't be of further help.

Hi

I setup this pool very basic so not much detail can be looked at. Payments have been going out constantly - I just checked... Every 1-8 minutes non stop.  No problem with the server.  Also, re checking on your address it doesn't always appear so its hard to check (but you still get paid).  As I said the pool is very basic as are most p2pool, lucky enough this template makes it appear a little nicer.

Okay people, wondering if we can set a record.

So far the max hash rate for the pool has been 150MH/s.

The question is, can we set a new record tonight? Lets see what we can do!

To get paid, you have to send a share which is more difficult than (Share difficulty) * 65536 (and this share should be accepted).
You can see "Share difficulty" value on http://212.48.67.50:8336/static/ , now it is 0.395 (it depends on the p2pool's hashrate and constantly recalculated).
So the share should be more difficult than 0.395 * 65536 = 25887 (like "Diff 25.9K/..." in cgminer; the first part of such "difficulty" is always more than the second one, which is managed by "+0.0000xxxx").
Note: If the first part of your share difficulty is more than the network difficulty, you will find a block.

I sometimes have difficulties in getting paid, as in:
- mine 1-2-3 hours, and get no rewards
- mine constantly with cpu (30kh) and get no rewards

Now for example, i'm mining for 60minutes, got 541 accepted and no payments.

Yes.
I just restarted cgminer; it reports Diff:183K.

What do 'first part' and 'second part' stand for in your post?

L.E.: Maybe I will use another pool this night, till i get the problem fixed, I got no payments, not even 700-800 accepted and 90 minutes.

What do 'first part' and 'second part' stand for in your post?
You can see such lines in your cgminer console:

"Accepted <hash> Diff <first_part>/<second_part> GPU <gpu_number> pool <pool_number>"
or
"Rejected <hash> Diff <first_part>/<second_part> GPU <gpu_number> pool <pool_number>"

"Diff:183K" is the network difficulty.

So, I'm mining for nothing?

It's rather hard to produce such a share even with Radeon HD6950 at 448 kH/s.
I had to set the difficulty modificator (after my WDC address) to "+0.00196000", it provides "the second part of share difficulty" = 128 and "the first part of share difficulty" at least 128. It allows to produce shares like 30K/128 (and higher) nearly once per hour. One such a difficult share is enough to get several payments. The more such shares you produce, the greater your payments are.
People having rigs of several HD7950/7970 can produce more shares and more chances for them to be so difficult.

You probably too slow. Make sure you have --queue 0 in cgminer, and use the closest pool. Also try reducing the intensity setting.

Ok back up, but there are issues.

Miners: The share difficulty has gone very low, try removing the "tweak" from your address and see if that improves anything.

I'll try to find out what is occurring to optimise the pool, now it is still running ok.

ATTN: Will be working on the pool, so several restarts may occur over the next 30 minutes.

Pool is back up, getting through a lot of DOA submitted shares.

Any shares done from connected from now onwards should be paid for as normal (the DOA shares submitted are from a backlog).

After the 'backlog' has cleared, efficiency should go back to where it was 90-95%.

As always, let me know of any issues with the server.

Looks like backlog is already cleared.

Start mining as normal from now, 1% fee.

Checkout the efficiency, currently 185%.

Enjoy Smiley

Great to see everything is operating as normal.

Sitting at 25MH/s at the moment, lets see if we can get back up and break the record of ~140MH/s that was set previously.

You have to wait a few hours until the first payment. That's how p2pool work.

It is much lower now, due to downtime.

The more miners we have here, the quicker we will find the blocks.

We were finding them at a rate where payout was between 1-8 minutes and sometimes sent more than once within that time period.

Be patient, lots of tweaks done to optimise your shares and yield more WDC.

Please share your code, P2Pool is GPL, look at the COPYING file.

IMO a reason to switch. Don't fuck with open source. Apparently not necessary for "internal" use. GPL experts come forward plz.

What does 'Don't fuck with open source' mean? P2pool is opensource, so why lots of altcoin mod nodes appear without releasing the code modifications?

Because they are taking the opportunity to modify the code themselves, then open a single peer node (not a true p2pool) and charge a % fee for all you suckers that mine there. Same thing happened with YAC. Wait a few days and the real p2pool will start with an actual network of nodes, these are all single-server pools.
