Windows or Linux mining for GTX 1060 cards?

Hey guys, I was wondering if I could mine on Linux with my GTX 1060 cards without issues. I've heard about the driver problems with Linux, but I would rather get my answers from the veterans here.

If no, then do I have to buy the Windows 10 or can I just buy Windows 8 which will be cheaper?

If you are new to Linux, you may want to reconsider or at least review a couple of guides on which proprietary Nvidia driver you'd want to install on whatever distro you picked.

You do not *have* to *buy* Windows 10 or 8, you could just install the Windows 10 "trial" and not activate it. (Or use IR5 for Win 7, but you might have problems expanding beyond 4 GPUs in the future.)

So Windows would be a better pick? Since Nvidia drivers are a bit messy on Linux. I bought the Asus 3GB 1060 dual fans OC Edition.

If you go beyond 8 nvidia gpu then linux is for you

If you go less than that, stick to windows. I have friends successfully installed 12 1060 in linux. So far no problem at all.

running 8 without any issues, installed drivers and installed 1 by 1 after each reboot. 9th card can be added but has to be different maker. (8=AMD/1=NVIDIA)
