When investing, I’m a big fan of diversification of portfolios. I believe that both Ethereum and Bitcoin offer value, albeit in different ways.

Even though Ethereum is positioning itself to become a large platform, the fact that Bitcoin is so well known makes it the first place where people invest.
Why you want to convert your btc to ethernium? Are you dont see the stability and potentiality of bitcoin? I dont suggest to convert btc to eth now.Btc is now rising like rocket So you can wait untill btc touched $5000. And that day does not far away from today.

I would not do that if i were you, especially with not all of the Bitcoins you have. Bitcoin has much more potential.

I wouldn't do that at any time, especially now that Bitcoin's price is on the rise and had a large positive increase on its price. In just a few days, it raised from $3000 to $4200~. Ethereum has been a lot more stable the last few weeks, while having a price increase, it wasn't as large as Bitcoin's. Regarding investment and earning potential, it's best to keep your BTC, it has already achieved a huge price increase and it might even increase more in the near future.

Well that is not the right decision right now, as you can see the price of the bitcoin right now is rapidly increasing, while ethereum is now in the low value, focus with your bitcoin first

You really cannot compare the price of bitcoin and Ethereum, make sure to invest some in Ethereum but that does not mean that converting all of your bitcoin into Ethereum, because the price of bitcoin will keep on increasing and never expect the price of any other coin as near as the price of bitcoin. Keeping your bitcoin is wise choice and for those who wanted to go for ethereum investments, then go on nobody cares for that decision. So if you ask my side about it, well I think it's a worst decision ever converting a promising price into falling down demand of ethereum price right now this moment if you check those market sites. So that idea kepts on telling other members of the forum that bitcoin is a sustainable and reliable investments for now, then gokd suggestions deserves to be followed; future of bitcoin will be brighter and can help a lot of people around the world.

It's a big mistake to trade your Bitcoin for Ethereum right now. Bitcoin is going to get segwit, and then lightning network, and then sidechains, and Blockstream just got Satellites out there to broadcast the Bitcoin Blockchain... so much exciting stuff happening in Bitcoin right now. I think everyone should have their main amount of crypto portfolio in BTC, specially right now, it's key to have as much BTC as possible.

Ethereum still has to overcome huge problems which im not sure they will be able to, meanwhile Bitcoin is sailing smooth, the only problem it has is the segwit2x morons being annoying again with the blocksize increase scam in November but we will get around that.

Which problems do you think ethereum will be unable to overcome?

Exactly!why you should convert if it is have value and you'll having a great profit for investment? Some investors are looking in the future result of their investment because they think always the way it will survive, but in this flow of bitcoin price now converting bitcoin to ethereum is absolutely a bad decision.

Definitely, as if were not seeing how trendy btc values now. But it depends if you gonna use it for investing since some ICOs now were only acceplting ETH. But if it's not for that reason better keep it. Some were regretting now that they don't have any btc left since they convert it all in alts and they feel sorry now.

Well you have a very big decision to make, kidding. You want to diversify your portfolio, but you are doing it at the wrong time, ETH can fall and you can buy and insure in the long term, maybe in 5 months ETH will increase its price, but then there is another possibility, bitcoin can also increase in price . So to solve your problem:

Do you have 1btc? If you have 1BTC you can hold for a long time, but if you have less than 1BTC you can buy ETH when you fall and you sell ETH when go up.

To see the present price variation in Bitcoin better, you don't do anything with your bitcoin. Just wait for some time once it crossed $4500 then 100% it will reach up to $5k because this is the margin for to hit $5k. But you are looking for long time investment then you can convert your BTC to ETH. It has bright future.

This is a good question sir but but the decision is yours. Given the fact that Ethreum became large, it is widely known. Bitcoin serves as a digital gold and we all know that. But if you will ask me, I can say that it is much better if you hold your bitcoin.

If you are going to convert your bitcoin into ethereum it is just like wasting some opportunities as a part of bitcoin development. And as you said bitcoin just come to the point of segwit or direct split of bitcoin into two. So just like what happened to ethereum development much progress and growth may be experienced by bitcoin resulting for a better way of transaction on its developed value, price , and security.

Right now the issue is not about technologies but a matter of price, if you have bitcoin you have a big advantage right now, you can buy ETH for the cheapest prices in a long time so this is the perfect opportunity to get not only ETH but altcoins at ridiculous low prices, then when altcoins are the ones to pump you can buy bitcoin and buy even more than before.

I personally think that that is a bad idea, infact, i think it is the worse decision a bitcoin holder can make. Specially at this time that bitcoins are getting more and more popularized by various people in many ways, both influential people and not. Plus with all the things happening today in bitcoins, segwit2x, etc. it gets bitcoining more exciting and thrilling, you would miss out on all the fun and profit if ever.

You are right for that, but I think to buy ETH still need a lot of money, because ETH for now I think is still very high for the price, better buy Altcoin to trade, but you have to wait a bit patiently Altcoin Being high, I'm sure Patiently waiting for you will bring good results in the future.

Well both Bitcoin and Ethereum are at present topmost cryptocurrencies. Ethereum is giving more ROI than Bitcoin these days, but Bitcoin prices too have a huge window.

For short term, Bitcoin will be good as an investment option, but for long term Bitcoin as well as Ethereum both are good option
