Everyone has there own strategies here, but I like the following breakdown for my own portfolio:

50% BTC

20% ETH

10% XMR

20% Speculative

Now if I hit on one of my spec coins, I'll take my original investment out once it has produced 1000% ROI and let the rest ride

Converting btc to eth I thing it's not a good idea. btc have huge market cap. And btc always keep 1st position every time. Other side eth have good platform too. But in my opinion its better to stay on btc.

Ethereum price compared to btc is far more attractive as you can get more ether. However depending on how many btc you have i would keep few btc and far more ethereum. Diversification is the best and speaking for these two great coins is important to have both in your portfolio.

ETH It's very good lately, because many projects use ETHRIUM as their platform, but bitcoin is the mother of cyrptocurrency, so I do not think it needs to be converted, because both coins are very good

When investing, I’m a big fan of diversification of portfolios. I believe that both Ethereum and Bitcoin offer value, albeit in different ways.

Even though Ethereum is positioning itself to become a large platform, the fact that Bitcoin is so well known makes it the first place where people invest.
yes if you want to exchange bitcoin to ethereum I think it does not matter,
they have the same positive and good value for long term investment

I feel if you have bitcoins you can sell the same and buy on low's you will make money to your portfolio than investing on any coins.

I have noticed the crypto market is totally dependent on the BTC and BCH. Playing with them is safer for you and you have nothing to loose as you have already made profits and now you can play with with profits and move them to ALt coins slowly.

You know that bitcoin has a higher rating as of now in terms of exchange coverting your bitcoins to ethereum can have a good profit if your lucky enough or you have your own strategy to make it nore profitable.i know this idea is not bad at all but on the other hand bitcioin is much well knowed day by day so if i were you ,you should hold what you have bitcoin today because it is more profitable then ethereum

Dependent on BCH? No it doesn't knowing that it is just an another altcoin in the market and I cant see that crypto market is totally dependent on it even on bitcoin itself. It might give some effects but not on general.I would rather put up some money on ETH too rather than converting my bitcoin to Etherium knowing that bitcoin do have the potential to make us rich too.

I think you should hold the bitcoins as it would be more valuable and profitable in the long run if we compare the same with Ethereum. You can invest extra money into the ETH but don't loose the bitcoins at this moment.

That is the right approach, that way if for some reason you lose all your money at worst you just wasted your time but you did not lose money, I have the same philosophy, I’m invested in several different coins with about 55% on bitcoin but if one of my investments skyrockets as I think they can then I’m going to keep my investment for some time but after I reinvest my profits then that will be the time to withdraw and dedicate myself more seriously in investing in altcoins and icos.

No, bitcoin has a more stable future than ethereum considering the fact that bitcoin is wildly used and accepted by lots of business, if i were in your shoes i will not trade my bitcoin for ethereum unless for a special purpose.

My brother is all about BTC, I am all about ETH. I do agree BTC is more stable but I think gains could be lot higher on ETH:)
I'm for ETH.

It all depend on your investment strategy. If you want to scalp then BTC is the way , buy at dump and sell at pump. Just take for instance the fork period of July ending BTC dumps to $2800  I bought at that rate and post fork it pumps to $4850 and i sold then. Then came China and ICO BTC dump to $2999 and after  it pump to where we are now $4145. But if you are for future investment then Ethereum is the way. Ether has the potential of moving up.

I like this segregation too. There are 4 portfolio I have:
40% - HODL,
30% - trading,
20% - ICO investment,
10% - risky operations.

Ethereum is going to take a big leap when they get all of their updates sorted out. I think ETh is going to be a bigger gain then BTC.

Buying ICO via bitcoin and $ start switching to ethereum payments, this is a sign that they will be very popular to use because many projects choose to switch to eth-based markets such as etherdelta, volume levels that prove eth has a bright future. I'm not saying they will outperform bitcoin but you have to start conversion gradually from now on.

When investing, it's better to diversify portofolios and collect Cryptos as much as possible but it becomes ridiculous asking community about to buy and what to convert. This forum is for enthousiasts and people looking for knowledge but since the ICO boom, we see that the majority are noobs asking what to trade and how to be millionnaire in few hours. If you don't know whether to hold your bitcoin or to convert them into euthreum then you should search for other real activities; would more profitable for you (noob) without annoying others and stuck the forum with non-used Data.

I think bitcoin will die of natural death. There is no technology and development possibilities.
They will survive such coins as Ehereum, Eos Waves. At bitcoin transfer fees of small sums kill.
