Generally an escrow is done when a transaction is to be done with a new person. For example you have to give me some money for the work i am going to do. But since you are a new person i recommend you to keep the funds on escrow. So a person with positive trust is hired for the escrow and the funds are transferred to him. Once he gets the funds , i do the work and then the funds are given to me.Basically an escrow is done when there are trust issues.
