The Burger King chain of international fast food restaurants in Russia has announced that it is now offering its own cryptocurrency, called Whoppercoin, in honor of the signature sandwich and best-selling burger at Burger King. According to reports from local news, the new cryptocurrency was launched on the Waves blockchain platform. To date, there are only one billion Whoppercoins issued, but the developers do not exclude the possibility of additional emissions. Interesting read, thank you for sharing. I will be happier if the stores accept Bitcoin instead.

Only 1 billion whoppercoins? And maybe more to be issued? I guess they don't know how inflation works. This is an interesting idea, it's like a rewards card, but in the cryptosphere. Hopefully more major stores will do this, it will bring more attention to blockchains and bitcoin and get more people comfortable with using them, bring it into the mainstream. Can't wait until whoppercoins are added to an exchange.

Well, If Burger King plan properly then they can actually make a new coin and implement it in their stores. They already have a large customer base and there must be some crypto lovers. Or they can go with the old school way, implement BTC as a payment gateway.

Hey, if this gets more people into the Waves ecosystem then I'm all for it. I don't really care for their coin but happy they're leveraging Waves. If they get into Waves ecosystem, they get exposed obviously to Waves, but also to Bitcoin and Ether in the WavesDex.

I think it can be very beneficial for any company. Giving customers tokens is very good idea. Waves will take advantage of this as it is very easy platform to issue a token.

Interesting news. I heard that this summer they announced tender for development of software to accept bitcoins. Why they didn’t choose the winner and decided to create their own cryptocurrency instead of accepting bitcoin?

This is really big news. But it's not an effect on Waves as always. Still don't get it why this is happening.

Clearly is very interesting. And on Waves. We see all the power of Waves in Russia. so it's very strange than a big company like Burger king put that blockchain only for one country. I don't really understand the impact of blockchain on Russia for now. How the situation is implanted?

Why is this just in Russia? Do it get to be listed to also in a Russian exchange like yobit?
If it will be listed though I would like to purchase some just to test whether some of its local branch here in our country will accept it. It might have a value if its accepted to all stores.

Exceptionally good news for Waves chain. I know this coin's price will probably be controlled by burger king but it will introduce Waves chain to lot of Russians. It means hot money.

Tricky business. Everytime, when the branches are full and the qeues of customers reaching out to the parking lots, they dump a B of coins and half their worth...

As badass it would be to pay for your Whooper with Bitcoin, wouldn't the fees associated with the transaction be a big incentive not to go through with the transaction?

Waves is ahead of its competitors once again! After the NSD, Moscow Stock Exchange, Gazprom Bank they now partnered with Burger King.
Where does it end for Waves? The moon?
