INTRODUCTION


SilentFilm Token [SLF] a digital currency on the Waves platform.  SilentFilm Token is one of a new breed of tokens created not as a stand-alone complete currency system but instead to promote knowledge and support the economy of those involved in worthy endeavors.

Silent Films were the only films made for the first forty years of film making history.  Sadly, up to 70% of all silent films no one will ever see again.  Every year, new silent films from this lost category of movies turn up unexpectedly.  It's one of the most exciting events going on today -- to stay in tune with the news about films being discovered which often have not been seen by anyone in over eighty years.

SilentFilm Token will help people explore silent films and reward them in the process.

The reason for this token's existence is that Silent Films are perhaps one of the least appreciated and under funded arts in existence.  In fact, the reason why 70% of them no longer exist in any form is because of great neglect and even outright destruction of them for their silver nitrate contents.

AIRDROPS

We will have several "airdrops." "Airdrops" are free coin giveaways in the cryptocurrency world.  We will also have an ICO to boost the price of the Token in the marketplace.  There are one hundred million SilentFilm Tokens available.  These will only be released very slowly over time so that they retain their value to those receiving them.    This token follows the "decentralized charity" framework of promoting cryptocurrencies to people interested in noble causes like the arts.  

To get the first airdrop, have Junior member level status at Bitcointalk and simply name five silent films that are on YouTube and post screen shots from each of them on some social media site, image sharing site, or your own website.  PM the developer this information and "I Love Silent Films" in the Title. Do not post it in the thread. Send your WAVES address and 500 SilentFilm Tokens will be sent if you do exactly as asked. Allow up to one week to get the airdrop.

The WAVES digital currency allows you to have "currencies" created which are stored on the same address that you use for your WAVES address. The founder, Robert Pearson, started ParaMind Brainstorming Software in 1992, and in early 1994 was the Seattle area's first Internet consultant advertising to the general public and small businesses.  Since 2011, he has been a contributing member on the Nitrateville Vintage film forum, having started over twenty heavily discussed posts and contributing to many more.  Nitrateville is the forum frequented by silent film scholars, vintage film collectors, film companies, archivists and others in the film industry.

We have many goals involved in making silent films better known in the world.  One goals is to promote the translation into English of many silent films which currently are only in less popular languages.  Dutch is the language of many of these films since that country saved so many of them.  The original language oddly enough was English, but there are no surviving English copies of these films.  

While it is possible that less than Junior member-level accounts may not be duplicate accounts, it's less probable. So, if you have a less than member-level account, please realize this airdrop is indefinite so you have time enough to build up your member status.

Find a list of silent horror movies by googling "silent horror movies" and give me one sentence or more in a pm that shows me that you watched it.   Haunted house movies count, which are usually more like mystery movies, such as "The Cat and the Canary," for those who spook easily.

This airdrop is worth 1000 SilentFilm tokens.  I know that's more than the first one, because that's the thing about silent films, they just keep getting better!!!

Thanks for the feedback.  Right now,the silent film community can use a lot of help, so I've made this token.  I hope to do a fund raiser/ICO type offering down the road to put some value in the token, and release them into the hands of the public that show some interest in it.  I also will try to educate the film community on how to use digital currency, which I think is a better term than cryptocurrency because they don't really understand what the crypto part means.   Sounds scary.

There is some confusion on the Airdrop.  Just send me a sentence or two showing me that you watched a Silent film horror movie.  Kind of like a short report on it.    I personally don't watch much horror movies, and maybe others don't because not much airdrop requests on this one so far.  The Devil Doll with Lionel Barrymore from the 1930s is my favorite.  You haven't seen a great movie until you watch that.  It's kind of funny but it's very high quality.  It's the first "mad scientist shrinks people movie."   It's not a silent so it doesn't count.

You can also watch one of the many Silent Sci Fi movies since people use Sci Fi movie figures for costumes.

This is just starting out and looking for people who want bounties to do various things like design a website. 

When I first got to Nitrateville.com in 2011, most were even opposed to watching silent films on YouTube.  The silent film community is both high tech because of film restoration, and very Luddite, meaning old fashion.

I believe in WAVES because I think it can make using innovative cryptocurrency easy, but we need to build teams who share the same cultural interests. 

Since I'm good at starting things, I am starting a few of these cultural coins and wanting others to join in and get the benefits.

These are long range projects, which I'm good at doing.

You know, IMDB DELETED the entire forum that had hundreds of thousands of posts and was well LOVED by many people.  I seldom use caps but we have to make sure corporations can't do this to people anymore.  

Synereo AMP is trying to be a type of Facebook killer for that reason.

Many publically (which isn't a word according to Chrome spellcheck, funny isn't that?) well-loved sites have been gutted by corporations.  
MySpace is one example.

Tokens like this have some way of hopefully in the future having a value and being able to be given to people doing work in the arts so they can circulate them to others and trade them on exchanges.
