Hi there, I was trying to claim my BCH, but I'm having trouble doing it.
I had my coins on multibit classic by the time of the fork. I have my private keys, but I don't have a seed because they that wallet doesn't use it. I also have my qr code.

My first option was using Coinomi. I made a sweep of my wallet using private key, and then trying with the code but no transaction is made. My BCH are still in the same address, and I can't receive them. After that I tried bcc-wallet.btc.com, but it requires the seed, and like I said I only have the private key.

Any of you had problems receiving the coins from multibit classic to Coinomi, or to any other wallet?
Also if I can't use any of those two, which one do you recommend?

I saw that one, but I use electrum for BTC, and I've heard that installing electrom sometimes causes a bug that inutilizes electrum, so I wanted to use another one, but I don't know which one. Tried those two like I've mentioned, but it didn't work for me.

I'm not sure what are the issues that you're experiencing, but if you're using Electrum it should be very straight forward
1) make a backup of your wallet file
2) take out your BTC (just in case)
3) get yourself a Electron-Cash wallet (I used Electron-Cash-2.9.0 on the day of the fork)
4) open your Electrum wallet in Electron-Cash
5) that's it

EDIT: For additional safety I was running Electron-Cash on a separate machine(VM) than the Electrum, but I doubt its really necessary

hmm I guess no one is using anything else them. Has anyone tried the mobile version of electron-cash?
If I'm going to use electron, I think I prefer that one. Also I'm trying to claim my BCH from a multibit classic wallet. Don't know if there are any issues with them.

if you want an easy way with little hassle and headache then install bitcoin cash wallets (specially electron cash) on another computer.
this another computer doesn't really have to be another physical computer though. you can download something like VirtualBox and have a virtual machine there or even run a full operating system from a DVD (Ubuntu for example)

Yes, I know. I already changed them, and I'm now using electrum, but I only did after the fork, so I must claim my BCH from those addresses.

I think I will try and do that. I really don't understand why Coinomi didn't work for me though.

Hi there, I was trying to claim my BCH, but I'm having trouble doing it.
I had my coins on multibit classic by the time of the fork. I have my private keys, but I don't have a seed because they that wallet doesn't use it. I also have my qr code.

Download bitaddress.org, run it offline for better security.
Than click on details and insert your private key. Look for compressed/uncompressed privkey and import both in coinomi. That would work, I'm almost 100% sure, let me know if it didn't.

crap, I was going to use Virtual Machine on windows, to create a virtual machine but it's no longer supported.
Didn't really wanted to use a pen with linux, but I'm running out of options here.

Anyone heard about the other wallets? Like BTX or Bitcoin ABC, bitcoin unlimited or bitcoinclassic?
Are they any good?

But I already have the private key, and I also have the qr code that ends up being "translated" into the same private key, so I know I got both right.
Nothing goes wrong with coinomi, it takes a while and then it say creating transactions, but it never creates it, and I end up with nothing in my account or my transactions history. Don't know what you mean by compressed/decompresses private key, but the program does not complain about the format, and accepts it. It just doesn't do anything with it. That's why I didn't try it, because I don't really feel safe, exposing my private key to a new program that I don't know.

Do what I said. Bitaddress.org is one of the most trusted sites of the bitcoin ecosystem, for better security download it on github (you can find the link on bitaddres home page) and run it offline, if you are so paranoid you can even run it inside a virtual machine or on Ubuntu started from cd.

Import both private keys in coinomi. It will work.

If you want the final confirmation I am right you can try to import your privkey in mycelium. You will end with a different public key than expected, an address with no coins. That is because your privkey is not in the right format (compressed/uncompressed).

I've tried it now, but it didn't work. The Private Key WIF Compressed was the one I already have. With that one, everything seems to work, I make the sweep, it say creating transfer or transaction or something like that, but it all stays the same and nothing is added to my coinomi address. With the Private Key WIF it says that the address does not hold any founds.

But if I use the blockchair explorer I can see they are still there:
https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/address/1Lt2xnTPuaDRxFpfsQW7gVpqcPtqFjTysg

Don't know what to do here. Like I said this address is from multibit classic, and I also used it on blockchain.info, when I got problems with the fees that were to high. I imported my address to blockchain, and start using it there. Never had any problems with it.

When I export the key on multibit classic it says base58.
I heard blockchain.info was going to have BCH as well, maybe they will credit the coins for me. If not I will install electron on another computer and try it.
