This question mostly goes to americans (or residents of any other country where it is legal).
Do you have any firearms? For what purpose do you have it and have you ever used it?
Everyone else can discuss if people should have a right to have a gun or not.

People should have guns for protection because there is no better way to defend your home or property in case of a robbery.
How is a little old lady going to defend herself against 2 or 3 intruders in the middle of the night?
The fact is, guns are not scary or bad. Slingshots, blow darts, knives, baseball bats and bow and arrows are equally as dangerous. In reality, there are evil people who wish to do innocent people harm, and you have to be ready to defend yourself against these attacks. Would you go into the wilderness without protection? If someone started beating you up would you defend yourself with your hands?
Likewise, self-defense is a right and I guarantee you if you are ever in a situation where you are getting robbed you will wish you had a gun.

Agreed with you, self defense is everyone's right and if someone wants to keep the gun then they should follow the government procedure to avail it and no one should keep the guns illegaly. |

Unfortunately, no. I do believe people should have the right to own guns because it is a matter of self defence and also to rebel against goverment tyranny, but also in the hands of the wrong person can be very dangerous!

Some politicians say that we have police for such purpose. And this logic is perfect: you can't use the firearms because you have police thet will try to find criminals that robbed you (or killed someone). Sounds (and works) bad. Unfortunately by the time the police arrive you will most likely be dead. |

I come from asia, in my country can not have weapons, I want to have a weapon to defend myself because of the frequent crime in my area |

I think arming yourself for self-defense is a right but it shouldn't be used other than that purpose only. And this comes with great responsibility. Educating people how to use it properly is a prerequisite.

Sounds like a quote from spider man movie. Who do you think should teach people to use firearms? Why can't they do it by themselves? If you are buying it for self defence then you should learn how to use it. |

I like guns but in my country guns are forbidden so i bought airsoftgun that resembles original weapon. Usually people have weapons for defense

Holding a gun without a license is illegal in my country and even if you apply for legal procedure to have a gun its gonna be very lengthy process and you need to disclose all the valid reasons for having a gun and its not at all easy to get permission from Government in my country and if you are an normal person I don't think you will ever need a gun for protection.

It is hard question. Yes, first what I am thinking is that people should have gun with them for defence. But it should be carefully classified from the psychologists and doctors who can have it and who not.

Getting a gun in my country is not an easy task at all, guns are not sold in shops like the USA, so people resort to getting guns from from local manufacturers and those guns usually backfire killing their owners.but I have shot a gun before though.Very exciting. |

Unfortunately, I do not have weapons, because in our country it is forbidden to have weapons even for self-defense purposes. Although criminals have illegal weapons with which they commit attacks  |

Yes, i do have my own personal gun. I always carry it if i'm going at places that is not really safe and secure (e.g. hiking, camping). Another reason for having my gun is for my self-defense, specially for defending myself if i'm threatened. In our country you have to be registered and legal to be able to use your own personal gun.

Cool! What gun do you have? Do you have only one gun? Have you ever used it? Heared that some ppl have more than just one gun (for example one for practicing and the other one for daily "usage"). |
