No, but I believe that it is an important way of securing your life and property against people who wish to do you harm, whether it is the Gov. or a home intruder, there are many situations where a policing force just doesn't respond fast enough or are the problem itself. I feel that it is a necessary step in becoming prepared for the uncertainty before us.

It is legal here in Philippines, however, you should have a permit to carry a gun. This takes a lot of process which is good, so that not anyone can carry it. I really think that people should undergo a lot of tests such as: Psychological tests, eye tests, firing tests, and a lot more before the issuance of gun or permit.

People should have guns for protection because there is no better way to defend your home or property in case of a robbery.

The fact is, guns are not scary or bad. Slingshots, blow darts, knives, baseball bats and bow and arrows are equally as dangerous. In reality, there are evil people who wish to do innocent people harm, and you have to be ready to defend yourself against these attacks. Would you go into the wilderness without protection? If someone started beating you up would you defend yourself with your hands?

Likewise, self-defense is a right and I guarantee you if you are ever in a situation where you are getting robbed you will wish you had a gun.

You can protect your assets the other measures like a alarm system, or cctv or if you have assets of big value, or if you just afford it you can always use a bodyguard or security firms. Once you put a gun in someone's hand only bad things happens.

I don't have a gun and I never wish to have gun. Even yes I admit we can use it for our own protection from bad peraons sorrounding us but I don't think it is ok to have it. For me the best weapon to protect you amd your family is to pray amd believe in GOD. Gun is nothing with GOD.

I don't have a gun and I did not miss it in the past. But I am living in germany and the news about knife attacks and rapists running around are getting more and more.
Not having a weapon is fine if government has the monopol on all weapons. But if this rule is breaking, someone has to ask himself if the current system of a police which is coming *after* the crime is sufficient to protect yourself and your family.

I don’t have a gun and I don’t think that i would have any need of availing one as that would only put me into twmptation into using it or it might be used against me and might cause damage to kyself or family. AND while the world might be a dangerous place I put my faith on the police for me

Nope. It is not illegal. Even in a third world country such as India, it is possible for the civilians to legally own a gun. But there are severe restrictions and the gun laws here are not as liberal as those in the United States. For example, getting a permit is extremely hard, and there is a lot of bureaucratic red tape involved. Also, you can only chose from a small number of Indian made pistols. Rifles, shotguns.etc are illegal.
