Electrum has always been unstable in my experience and I'm very sorry I've ever used it.

Now I try to recover the BCH from my Electrum wallet and I can't seem to do it since ElectronCash shows the same unstable behavior I'm familiar with.

Is there any other way to claim my BCH from my Electrum wallet?

Thanks

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Yes. By using any other BCH supported wallet that allows you to import your private keys from Electrum.
You can find the most common ones in the Bitcoin Cash website[1].

please help me,

after I installed the wallet electrum, standart wallet with existing private key (private key from my wallet at blockchain.info). my bch balance on the blockchain wallet address becomes 0 (zero). I was looking for the bch with the wallet address in the electrum but not found. but I found my bch balance in another wallet address (which is not in the electrum I installed).

Note: my blockchain wallet address : "1AcQ .... rsMm"
my electrum wallet address    : "1GXe .... LCtbc" (electrum standard wallet with private key from "1AcQ .... rsMm")

balance bch on address "1AcQ.... rsMm" become to zero and move to address "1MFP..... 3WFw"
why does his bch balance not move to address "1GXe .... LCtbc" ?

how do i take my bch balance on that address ("1MFP..... 3WFw") ?

thank you for your help.

Blockchain.info likes to export compressed private keys but is actually using uncompressed keys/addresses (or the other way round, I can never remember)

Anyway, what you need to do is create an offline copy of bitaddress.org, put the exported private key into the wallet details tab and click "view details".…

You'll see both the compressed and uncompressed addresses and matching WIF format private keys... Get the WIF that is on the same side as the 1AcQ address and import that to Electrum. It should then show as 1AcQ in Electrum as well.

I'm confused as to how your BCH moved from 1AcQ to 1MFP??!? Did you transfer BCH using a different wallet already?

no, i do not transfer bch to any wallet.
I just instal electrum-2.9.3 and then run it, then create a standard wallet with private key (private key from address 1AcQ...rsMm) and the address of the electrum wallet formed is "1GXe8...LCtbc"

according to my estimation, should be the balance bch in address "1AcQ...rsMm" switch to the address "1GXe8...LCtbc", but
i do not understand, why the balance bch in address "1AcQ .... rsMm" becomes zero and switch to address "1MFPQ...A3WFw"

note:  I downloaded the electrum from the following link: https:slashslashdownload.electrum.orgslash2.9.3slashelectrum-2.9.3.exe  (slashslash => // and slash => / )

Like I said, blockchain.info does stupid things when you export private keys.

Each private key can be represented by an uncompressed WIF (Wallet Import Format) key and a compressed WIF key. The uncompressed WIF will convert to an uncompressed address, and the compressed WIF will convert to the compressed address.

Blockchain.info shows you the compressed address (ie. 1Acq) in your wallet... But for some dumb reason (b.info Devs are idiots?) They give you the uncompressed WIF when you export. The result being that if you import this uncompressed WIF, it converts to the uncompressed address (ie. 1GXe)...

If you goto https://www.bitaddress.org/ (create an offline copy, by saving the page and and running it without internet connection)
Goto the "wallet details" tab... Put your private key WIF that you exported from Blockchain.info into the box and click "view details"

You should see both the 1AcQ and 1GXe addresses shown with their matching private key WIFs.

Copy the WIF underneath the 1AcQ address and import that into Electrum.

(Note: WIFs start with a "5", "K" or "L")

You could import your private key in coinomi  (sweep them).

There is no problem of you use the latest version.

after being tracked it the coin bch switch to address "1MFPQVCARrom9uH1MjtxSGHUSHTd4A3WFw"
on the installed wallet electrum there is no address "1MFPQVCARrom9uH1MjtxSGHUSHTd4A3WFw"

https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/transaction/243725249#i=16

You can't get BCH from Electrum... you can only get BCH from ElectronCash... they're two different programs.

Also, looking at the BCH block explorer... you're correct, all the BCH from your 1AcQ address was moved in this transaction: https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/transaction/243725249#o=0

If you never created/sent this transaction, (did you do a sweep transaction?) then someone else has the private key for the 1AcQ address... I see all the BTC was also moved from that address here: https://blockchain.info/tx/3487420c502b9c0779c66515903c364f4ca4a29bc43805c2e6e03092fae1f045

If you didn't send the BTC transaction, then someone else definitely has the private key for the 1AcQ address and both your BCH and BTC have been stolen and there is no way to get those coins back, they're gone. Sad

i do not sweep transaction that bch coin, and i do not create/send that bch coin.
i only instal electrum, and then run it, then create a standard wallet with private key from blockchain. and then my bch coin gone.

I have do send that btc coin, but its bch coin I do not know why move to "1MFPQVCARrom9uH1MjtxSGHUSHTd4A3WFw", just because I instal wallet electrum with private key.

the date of moving bch coin to address "1MFPQVCARrom9uH1MjtxSGHUSHTd4A3WFw" exactly equal to the date I enter the private key to the electrum wallet I installed.

is it when i enter the private key into the wallet electrum, electrum (or bch network) make bch address "1MFPQVCARrom9uH1MjtxSGHUSHTd4A3WFw" then automatically move its coin?, and the bch address can not appear in the electrum because the electrum is not a bch wallet but a bitcoin wallet?. or what really happened Huh.

I can give up the coin bch because the value is not much, but what if it happens to someone else who has a lot of bch coin, if the loss of bch coin is not stolen, but by the errors of the electrum wallet or error from the bch network. and of course there will be a lot of floating coin bch (no one has) in the bch network.

note : the address of the bitcoin wallet formed on the electrum is "1GXe8...LCtbc", why not "1MFPQVCARrom9uH1MjtxSGHUSHTd4A3WFw"
and why bch coin not move to "1GXe8...LCtbc" Huh.

This has nothing to do with Electrum. It is because you exported your private key, an attacker got access to the private key (keylogger, clipboard sniffer, screengrabber, bad browser extension etc) and they used that private key to move your BCH to their address.

is it when i enter the private key into the wallet electrum, electrum (or bch network) make bch address "1MFPQVCARrom9uH1MjtxSGHUSHTd4A3WFw" then automatically move its coin?, and the bch address can not appear in the electrum because the electrum is not a bch wallet but a bitcoin wallet?. or what really happened Huh.
No. Electrum cannot move your BCH as Electrum works on the BTC network only. Sending BTC in Electrum does not move BCH. Your coins were stolen.

It is not an error or bug in Electrum, or an error or bug in BCH network. The only way for the coins to move is if a transaction (signed by the correct private key) is broadcast to the network.

note : the address of the bitcoin wallet formed on the electrum is "1GXe8...LCtbc", why not "1MFPQVCARrom9uH1MjtxSGHUSHTd4A3WFw"
and why bch coin not move to "1GXe8...LCtbc" Huh.
Because your BCH coins have been stolen. The attacker has then used your private key to move the BCH to their address 1MFPQ... Undecided

The reason Electrum created 1GXe8 address (and not 1AcQ) is because blockchain.info exports the "compressed" private key... but is using "uncompressed" addresses... If you use www.bitaddress.org and enter the private key that blockchain.info gave your for 1AcQ address, you will see that it matches with the 1GXe8 address.

TL;DR - Blockchain.info is broken, full of bugs and exports the wrong version of private keys.

You could import your private key in coinomi  (sweep them).

There is no problem of you use the latest version.

Hi, I have an existing Coinomi wallet which initially I created by using a SEED that I had from a Mycelium wallet. After that now I'm trying to use this same Coinomi wallet to obtain my BCH from a different wallet I have in Electrum. In Coinomi, which has btc and bch coins acivated, I did "sweep" of an Electrum address private key:
- I got to the part confirm and then it seemed to send something to an address....but I see nothing in Coinomi after that transaction that it does during the sweeping process. WTF? Where could that transaction, that probably sent all my BCH corresponding to that Electrum address, be?

A question that comes to mind is; if any address private key is somehow tied to the SEED or master private key of a specific wallet, can it be that I cannot do a sweep into an existing Coinomi wallet of that address private key because the Coinomi wallet I created using a seed from MYcelium, which is completely different from the Electrum wallet I'm trying to sweep from ? I mean, would it be necessary for me to create a completely new Coinomi wallet? (in which case I'd expect to see these lost BCH from the confirm transaction there?)

"Sweeping" just creates a standard Bitcoin transaction, that moves coins from one private key to another. It is basically the same as creating a transaction in Electrum that sends the coins from Electrum Address to Coinomi Address... but you're creating the transaction within Coinomi and using the private key from Electrum to sign it.

From your message... you seem to have:

A. Created a wallet in Coinomi using the seed mnemonic from Mycelium. This wallet has BTC and BCH addresses setup.
B. Attempted to sweep BCH from an Electrum address/private key to one of the BCH addresses in your Coinomi wallet.

Did you get a transaction ID from Coinomi? Have you looked at the Electrum address on a BCH block explorer like blockchair or blockdozer to find the transaction and see what BCH address the BCH was sent to? and checked that that BCH address is actually in your Coinomi wallet?

Thanks for your help.
Yes, I did sweep of an Electrum adress private key in a Coinami BCH coin wallet.
Mind you, the Electrum adress doesn't have any BTC since I emptied the wallet compltely before proceeding to now tring to get my BCHs.
I think i read somewhere that in Coinomi I have to sweep each addess...BUT THAT I have to do it in Coinomi's Bitcoin coin wallet, not the BCH one. Could this be right?
But, if I do sweep, how could I do the corresponding transaction that happens when sweeping if there are no BTCs in that address?

No, I didn't write down the transaction ID; it just showed on the smartphone's screen for a moment and then no trace of it after that. Maybe it tried doing the transaction but there were no BCHs and thus it cancelled I don't know. But there should be BCHs in the address because I checked details inside Electrum for that address and there were BTCs inside it before 1 August...and emptied those BTCs well after 1 August.

Like I said... go and look up that Electrum address on a BCH block explorer:

https://www.blocktrail.com/BCC
https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/blocks
http://blockdozer.com/insight/

They should show all the transactions for that address and whether or not any BCH are currently controlled by that address. If you don't see the transaction, it's possible the sweep didn't work (hence 0 BCH showing in your wallet) and the BCH balance for the Electrum address should be positive still. If you do see a transaction, you should at least be able to see what BCH address they got sent to.

Can you just post the Electrum address here? or PM or something... it's hard to say what has happened without being able to see the addresses and transactions... Undecided

There is no such thing as a private "address"... only private keys... Wink

So... Yes, just put in the "public" 1bItCoinAdDreSs that you have from Electrum into the blockexplorer...

Thanks

You need to recover from seed. Don' t install electroncash in the same computer as electron, i suggest to don' t use election cash at all.

Instead, follow this tutorial:

I have some help thread opened for people having problem claiming their bcc, I'm becoming an expert, if you need feel free to PM me.

Thanks.
Not sending you by Pm any of the public keys because I have them in a different PC and don't want to have to copy them manually to then stick them here or transfer them to a USB stick to later read them in this other PC...

I did as you said, checked all of the individual "Used" addresses from the Electrum wallet, including the Change used ones, in the block explorer, and voila ! Yes, I do have exactly the amount of BCHs that I was expecting.

Still nothing showing in Coinomi. Kind of afraid to sweep in another private key for one of the Electrum addresses in case i get what happened yesterday...

I also have Electron Cash desktop wallet installed in a virtual machine. Yesterday I created a wallet there using the Electron wallet's seed. No BCHs there...    Strangely the addreses that show in Electron Cash don't coincide with the unused addresses in Electrum (there is no option to see "used addresses in Electron Cash"....this is mind boggling....

I'm going to sweep a second private key from one of the Electrum address that contains BCH and will report shortly what happens.

But using an ONLINE wallet like that one...putting your private keys or seed there...kind of dangerous in general I'd say, even if they say at their site that it's "secure", don't you think ?
