I really doubt that, why should it?
What are the advantages of YAcoin?
It's just another new altcoin in an endless sea of new altcoins.

as for me YAC has 2 advantages:
 - ultra-fast confirmations
 - I can mine it on my ordinary CPU

Why you need ultra fast confirmations when hundreds YAC confirmations is required to be as secure as 1 Bitcoin confirmation?
You can mine Bitcoin on CPU as well if you want  Wink

Easier mining is only an advantage for those who want to sell coins, not for those who want to use it.
If you want ultra-fast confirmations you could also use Litecoin, Feathercoin, BBQCoin or newrandomaltcoin#587.

easier mining (without GPU farms and ASIC) helps to distribute the currency wider. Therefore, YAC may be more popular for end users as me.

Most of those mining altcoins just want to get the most cash/Btcs for their mining power. They don't care about the coin at all.

It's an interesting situation. It is highly unlikely that it will be close to as popular as bitcoin, but the ability to mine it passively on the CPU while mining anything else almost ensures its blockchain won't be abandoned.

I think the more relevant question for now is how does it compare to FTC and CNC. Will any of these coins survive, and if so why?

From all the altcoins, Yacoin is one of the good ones. Scrypt-chacha (instead of Scrypt-salsa like most Litecoin clones) and keccak512 (instead of SHA256 like most all other coins) makes it nearly ASIC proof even in the future. This means it will only be mined on CPU and GPU. This is the coin of the poor man miner that can't afford ASICs.
