I cannot think of a more accessible and therefore more viral concept than exchanging salt for BTC and back.
Beats even bitbills. Well almost.
Anyone care to throw gas on this fire?

Salt is fungible.
Try putting tracking numbers on salt crystals. Not gonna happen.

So any bids on 100g of salt for BTC or vice versa?

All it takes is one brave soul to start the snowball.

The edible kind is $.99 for 737g.

So roughly $.14. Translates to .01BTC

That's a good reference point. A really good one.

I suppose this thread poses that kind of threat.

You take as much salt as you like, and you weigh it. I don't think the number of salt crystals you have matters. Tongue

The mention of salt crystals was for comparison of features.

In any case, a line of tables where people are exchanging Bitcoins for salt and salt for items and Bitcoins for items might send a message to machine.
In fact what might even be better is 25g units that CPU miners could use.
I think it's time to push the machine, make them a little uneasy.

I will check that out. Learn something new every day.  Shelf life of 4-5 years. Good stuff.

I think the salt / salary meme would be useful for us.

You can actually buy it in block form.

Brilliant.

So what would the price be per the usual unit size? Looks like about $.60 for 100g or .04BTC. Getting closer and it has a billion uses. Thanks!

I'm looking for both portability and value of the portion, but I'm open to ranges. As a functional form of protest to the system, one week every two months peg that to BTC and leave fiat in the dust.

I'm sorry. I'm sleep deprived and haven't had a drop of alcohol all day. I thought you wanted to start your own bitcoin, but with salt. Disregard everything I said, I suck cocks.

I want to give bitcoin a countercurrency of sorts. Whenever the market is weird we use the salt to stabilize. But in the beginning as a means of functional protest it just screams win.

I'm very intrigued by this pink stuff.

It perfectly seasons your food while it cooks it. Also, even the thinest cuts of beef come out pink in the center, but not raw. Some restaurants use them as plates and leave a pile of raw meat in the center and everybody cooks their own meal at their table. Fun for parties. I have absolutely no wholesale connections with this product though. So you'd have to find a source.

Wait, what are the benefits of using salt? Is this another scheme to back bitcoins?

Long term it can be. It would allow people to move between barter and liquid trade that does not make them dependent on poisoned central bank currency.
Short term it is a powerful meme that builds communities. A catalyst.
