Why wouldn't you just google it?

Bitstamp. Btc-e, I think coinbase does it too. In terms of what the differences are, do your own research.

OP here

I am looking for more mainstream brokers. Not crypto exchanges.

I have just finished reading the article in Fortune.com (Hacking Coinbase: The Great Bitcoin Bank Robbery)
http://fortune.com/2017/08/22/bitcoin-coinbase-hack/
Coinbase was successfully hacked 30 times in a month. That is an average of once a day.  BTC-e is even worse.
And because Bitcoin is hard to trace, it means that the lost money won't be able to be recovered.

u can try usd tether ,then go for bittrex or poloniex, there buy and sell range is quite good. tether is more effective just as it uses cryptography so its your call whether to use it or not.

I am an experienced trader in other markets and would like to trade the Bitcoin market on both the long (buy) side and the short (sell) side.

Can someone point me in the direction of the three biggest exchanges that allows me to go long or short the BTC/USD

I am a professional trader. I want to trade in minimum $10,000 blocks.

I am looking for mainstream (NOT crypto)  brokers that allow me to trade the BTC/USD without having to take possession of any Bitcoins. I want to just trade the BTC/USD  pair.

In the crypto exchanges, I have to convert my USDs to BTCs and then either store my BTCs elsewhere (for safety because the Crypto exchanges get hacked all the time) or take the risk of leaving my BTCs at the exchange (where they can be stolen).
Both alternatives are unattractive.

A better alternative is to find a reputable mainstream broker that will allow traders to just trade the BTC/USD.

Are there any traders here that trade BTC/USD on any mainstream (NOT crypto)  brokerages?

Problem is that mainstream brokerages don't usually accept bitcoin or even list bitcoin as a trading pair.

Apart from 1broker, which arguably could be considered as a "crypto brokerage" as well since its customers are mainly bitcoin based, i really can't think of anything else. Obviously binary options will always have btc, but then binary options are more like gambling since the timeframe is usually very short.

I would say use either 1broker, bitfinex, or bitmex. All of them are legit and have been used. Of course there could be hacks and whatnot but that's the risk you are dealing with with every action you do on an exchange, not just shorting btc.

I don't need a broker that accepts Bitcoins.  Will willingly fund the account using USDs.
To date, I haven't found any reputable (mainstream) broker that lists bitcoin as a trading pair

1Broker.com is operated by 1pool Ltd., a corporation registered in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.   Shocked Huh

Binary options are an outright scam.

Seems like you are a stock or forex trader. If you do like to trade BTC/USD then try SimpleFX since you can able to trade up bitcoin on there and at the same time you can able to trade with Forex and commodities.
There are famous exchange on here on cryptoworld but they are just focusing on crypto. Try poloniex.com or bittrex since these are the famous exchangers as of now. Shorting bitcoin movement is somehow difficult if you are not experienced enough to be an active trader.

SimplexFX is based in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines  Huh Lips sealed

It is also NOT licenced by ANY financial regulator.

It has also had some very serious allegations of scam.  ( See reviews here: http://www.ratingfx.com/broker/simplefx )

if you want to trade short try to trade altcoin - bitcoin.
bittrex is a great market and easy to use. look for large trading volumes and see price movements. I think it's pretty easy to make some profits there.

Bitstamp. Btc-e, I think coinbase does it too. In terms of what the differences are, do your own research.
Very well said. Google it and you will find out all the possible ways of doing it and choose whichever best suits you. I think you alone cannot do the task. You definitely need a team of people having enough resources to do this task. Only then you’ll manage to do it in a way which you desire.

How do you still say btc-e? I just can't see. They have been arrested by CIA and their servers and all other hardwares were seized by FBI. Because stolen bitcoins were laundered in btc-e platform.

For short positions, you should use exchangers, it's safer than mainstream brokers.

if you mean margin bitcoin markets, then i only know 2 markets you can use to trade the bitcoin market, that market is okcoin and bitmex. i have good experience with both but i only recommending bitmex because beside you traded bitcoin-usd, you can try trade btc-altcoin. the leverage is also legit and you can satisfied when you can place the right price. but before you try with real fund, i think you can test first with testing account in bitmex.

but if you mean only trade like usual, then you can try bittrex, poloniex, bitfinex, liqui, and else. i recommending bittrex and poloniex as that 2 sites have a large potential profit if you know trading.

I trade with IG (ig.com). They have BTC/USD, ETH/USD and BCH/USD pairs. For BTC 7.5% margin. Spread is a little bit high at 20$, but with the high volatility in BTC it's not that bad.

Another broker I know is Plus500, they have even more crypto pairs (BTC, BCH, XRP, XMR, LTC, ETH, DSH, XEM). For BTC 3.33% margin. 18$ spread. I have never traded with them though.

Some people are more comfortable trading in Poloniex, the movement of coins is very fast and the volume is very large suitable for wholesalers. Slower Bittrex is not suitable for a profit per day. Both have the same risk, and you can choose according to the trading strategy you apply.
Good luck.

He needs a complete team to accomplish this task. Not only Google but many people who are already into all this and want to join you can also help you a lot in achieving your goal. I won’t suggest you to give up on it. Just try to select some passionate people like you who can enjoy their work.
