Hello everyone.

I am one of the co-founders of https://CoinCheckUp.com and would love sincere and constructive criticism about the website.

TL;DR: There's a large number of cryptos and ICOs out there but it's difficult to gauge their quality and potential, so we've started this project at our own personal expense, including the web development, hosting and individual researchers to find and key data into our system. Hopefully over time we get enough traction to be able to pull the proverbial sleeves of the people behind ICOs and help them do a better job being transparent and doing a good job.

I believe there are quite a bunch of high quality websites and resources for experienced investors out there, but not for beginners. We're working hard to come up with ways to make the crypto market more approachable by the moms and pops over time, as well as to serve intermediate/experienced investors who are looking for new opportunities in the market.

Our main feature is the scoring mechanism, and we're aiming to improve the algorithm over time in order to accommodate various situations.

In order to find out more about any cryptocurrency you have to do hours of research, most people don’t do this and they put themselves in a dangerous situation by investing in cryptocurrencies that have simply no solid foundation.

So we started CoinCheckup to give more transparency in all the crypto currencies out there. We started of by looking at the fundamentals, for instance:

* Ability to communicate with the team behind the Coin
* Team strength (background, previous accomplishments, leadership, team diversification, etc.)
* Advisors strength (background, previous accomplishments, etc.)
* Product strength (open source, transparency, status of the current product, etc.)
* Coin strength (consensus method, type of blockchain, role of the coin, etc.)
* Business strength (incorporation, website traffic, and the above)
* Community backing
* Activity on social media

To reiterate my purpose for being here: I'd like your feedback and thoughts, so we could better steer the project in a way that benefits everyone out there and strengthens the crypto market as a whole.

Please head over to https://coincheckup.com, spend a minute or two and let us know what you think.

Thanks in advance.

Can you share how is made the "Score" calculation of each coin? Is the "Analysis" section the one resulting in those scores?

Regardless, the website looks very well made and full of technical details of each cryptocurrency. So far is the best website that I have seen to do a quick research on each altcoin market and technical information. I will be pleased to bookmark and check it everytime I need to look at some altcoin.

Your site mobile friendly fast response and not heavy, unlike other sites. The display to the view does not take much connectivity, I'm very happy to see there are prediction sections on your site and there are many details about alt or coins, is there a plan to apply for android or iOS?

Thanks for the kind words so far.

@TryNinja: indeed the Analysis tab shows all criteria, the actual score awarded per section and individual criterion, as well as the max score possible on each of the criteria. We plan to publish the full methodology as soon as possible for everyone to review.

@Cacingkemi: We've received prior feedback requesting price alerts and notifications both on desktop and mobile, so we've saved this to our roadmap.

Regarding mobile friendliness, this is one aspect that we believe CoinMarketCap.com does a poor job at. As such, we've dedicated a lot of effort to make it great on mobile. They excel at getting data, but fail to make it easy to consume for everyone.

On another note, the next thing we're considering to work on is a coin screener, similar to the Google Finance screener for stocks, so you can select criteria and see coins that meet it. For example, I'd like to see only coins with at least $50M market cap, that have been on the market for at least 6 months, have grown at least 50% since they started trading, and have a strong team (team score in the first 5% of the market compared to other coins). The resulting list would help narrow down coins that have potential for further research and investment.

What do you think?

Thanks for letting me know about the glitch. It's going straight to our immediate fix list.

While we fix the issue, one hack you can try is to resize your browser window slightly, and it should get back into shape. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm impressed that you collected all those details for each and every coin. Where did you get the price updates by the way? Also, I suggest you to add different currencies for the price to let users see what they prefer (Coinmarketcap has this feature). On mobile I can't see the numbers well (after 9, 1, 1, 1 and so on) : http://i.imgur.com/ZgaLIU1.jpg . I was thinking what does it mean at first but after seeing 2 downwards, I just realized that it was 10, 11, 12 ... 20, 21 and so on.

I'm curious, what would be the advantage of having an account in the site?

Thank you. Prices are from CoinMarketCap and CryptoCompare APIs, however we are considering a direct integration with exchanges over time.

I am aware of the ranking number issue on mobile. Since then, we've decided to remove those rankings on mobile and leave them on for larger devices, since space is tight on phones and we want to make the best of it.

Right now the benefit of having an account is following coins and being able to filter the overview tables to see only the coins you follow. On the roadmap, however, we have notifications/updates planned, as well over time we consider setting up some member-only sections/areas.

At this stage, we're still looking to bring something new, of which we already have the coin screener, the analysis data and scoring formula, but we're always open for ideas of killer features that would help investors save time and be safer.

Thanks, I saw it. We'll try to get in touch with OpenDNS to see if they can resolve the issue. So far, we have not had any other such false positive error reports, and we see thousands of visits a day without hassle. I do however appreciate your bringing this to my attention. Cheers!

I really like this so far! a great resource to check and nice to see some good research to help make informed decisions.

A few things to note and some suggestions from me.

Follow Button - It will not work for me, I click follow on coins but it does not register. I spent about 10 minutes following all the coins I was interested in only to then click the "only my coins" button and it came up with nothing. Then looked back onto a coin I had previously followed and it was no longer following. (I am signed up and logged in)

Number System - Maybe the number should be equal across all boards as it gets confusing when trying to compare across different pages. For example, BTC is #1 on market but Lykke is #1 on analysis.

Coin Screener - Would be nice to have an option to select current price on the screeener

Right click or hover functionality - Would again be useful to have so that if you click, right click, hover over coin link you get a mini pop out with follow button and the main analysis section (price%, score, ticker symbol etc) + follow button.

Prediction Page - Only currently works on current value set against trends that already exist. Would be good to see other factors built into this to get some variation across coins. Difficult to do I know!

But overall I am super impressed, fantastic job!

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback and appreciation.

Follow Button - Sorry to hear that. We'll take a good hard look at it to see if there's anything we can do. If you don't mind me asking, what browser/os are you using?

Number System - It's hard to decide what metric to use for the numbering. Each overview page/table is sorted by a default column (market cap for market, total score for analysis) etc. and that's what's used in the numbering.

Coin screener - We're cooking up a bunch of more fields but since the number of options is getting long, we're trying to also organize them into screener categories.

Right click/hover - Neat idea. We haven't thought of that before. Kudos!

Prediction Page - Do you have anything that comes to mind in terms of other factors?

Thanks again!

Two new features we've launched this week:

1. Coin categories and tags. Over 100 coins now feature categories and tags, as well as related coins that you can filter down to see the competition. Naturally, this is also a feature of the Coin Screener.

2. Full methodology explanations for our scoring mechanism under each coin's page Analysis subtab.

We're delighted to help bring more clarity to the market. As usual, your feedback is most appreciated and goes straight to our roadmap.

P.S. Speaking of the roadmap, in the spirit of full transparency, we've published the broad ideas as a public Trello board at https://trello.com/b/DjQd23U8/coincheckupcom-roadmap-public - feel free to vote or comment.

Is there an API for CoinCheckUp? I'd love to be able to pull coin strength and other variables into Google Sheets.
