Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Perhaps, the most obvious application of the OPEN State, as proof-of-ownership token interface, is a decentralized receipt. This setup lends itself well to use in any type of payment solution - from one time transactions to subscription services - which we intend to be our first rollout.
However, in the future, given the inherant flexibility of the OPEN State, it can be used for any number of applications, including:

Hello A7373, after the ICO is finished we will send you a confirmation email with your final number of entries/stakes and the address we have on file. You will then have a few days to request a change. Due to the way the contest software works we aren’t able to process changes to addresses until the end of the ICO.
