Still don't get it?... Many people earn permanent "ignore" status before they even get out of the newbie quarantine zone.

For others, the "ignore" button gets pushed later, after they try a few troll posts and readers give them the benefit of a small doubt by looking up their post history.

If you post worthless posts, you will be treated as a worthless poster sooner or later, after which you just post into a vacuum. Not a bad system, all in all.

Post away!

This is a worthless post too but I don't know how many more worthless posts I have make.

Then again a worthless noob forum deserves to have worthless posts.

At least I am not trying to scam people by promising bitcoins for clicks and then not delivering.

So what happens if they hit ignore?  That doesn't seem like punishment to me at all. The forum has tons of users and you are guaranteed to piss of some of them no matter what you say.

It's not "punishment". It's just that in this forum nobody needs to read posts from people they perceive to be making worthless noise. No emotion needed. You can ignore whomever you wish, but they can ignore you too.

Someone who posts nothing but junk eventually winds up talking only to himself/herself and nobody cares. Someone who pushes the "ignore" button out of spite or mean-spiritedness locks himself out of reading potentially-valuable posts. That's OK too - self-inflicted wounds.

People can always turn "ignore" back on or off if they change their minds about the nature of a poster.

I already know a lot about BTC so there's not much I want to post in Newbies!

I remember having a similar feeling, but look at it this way...

If you can't think of anything worthwhile to say - any worthwhile contribution to make - while you're in newbie quarantine, then why would that change if you were suddenly allowed to post anywhere?

The best way out of your dilemma is to think of useful things to post - form a habit that will make people eager to read your stuff no matter what thread it's in.

I think newbies have the impression that only newbies read the newbie forum and that only other newbies will read their posts. Not so - many/most/all of the regulars read newbie stuff. Everyone was a newbie at some point.

Bottom line to OP's question though - the only point of making 5 worthless posts is to depict yourself as someone who makes worthless posts. It's a much wiser tactic to make five worthwhile posts, but everyone has to figure things out in their own way.

4 hours is annoying .

Yeah but they'll be over quick if you'd actually search the forums to learn. You may be restricted from posting elsewhere but you're not restricted from reading. Go learn a few things and it'll make your 4 hours fly quicker. I'm not sure but i think you can still mark a thread as watched. So if you bump into an interesting thread while you wait to complete your 4 hours you can keep an eye on that thread and participate in it once you graduate from the nube section. The key is to be productive. If you complain a lot bout being "stuck" in the nube section it seems that you won't be of much help to the community. Just keep all this in mind.
