It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

Mdodong but it's not really fair to punish everyone b/c one fucker decided to scam the system. So he get to keep his coin and the rest of us that don't own spare BTC loses too. My BTC is all tied up in Alts and we all know how bad Alts are currently doing, so i can't even sell my alts to get in on the airdrop. I owe a nice amount of ETH, but i bought in at 310, so i can't also sell my ETH for BTC to get in on the airdrop. So you can see how this sucks for some of your supporters. Like i said before, the signature airdrop has completed for a while but some of us keep wearing it cos we truly believe in the project and want to aid in increasing it's visibility. It kinda sucks that this one scam artist gets to keep his coins, then the rest of us pays for his or her atrocity. It's a lose lose situation for us.

No one is punishing anyone. Why do you keep on bringing that up? So what if he has more coins than anyone at this point. That will change as soon as we go through the rest of the distribution rounds. That wont matter much.

Yes it sucks that one person gamed the system early on. It sucks that you don't have the same amount of sems. It sucks that you may not have a chance to participate in the next round of btc drop. I can't participate either for the same reason you mentioned. This is not about you or me or the existing community.

The purpose of airdrop is to gain massive adoption and awareness of semux outside of our existing community. This will help everyone in the long run.

Stick to the plan. Trust the dev.

I kept watching and didn't reply to anyone. But I have to do this one. Because you are a good and decent guy. I didn't "gamed" the system. As I have told someone in the community, I have paid for what I got and didn't break the rule. Sorry for people who didn't know how to find a promising peoject and got as much as he/she can. I didn't try to reason with haters because they just believed what they want to believe. And I don't think I need to clarify anything to people I don't konw or care.

Well lets be honest, what project doesn't have distribution problems? It's the nature of the beast. Even BTC has 1 million mined by one person/group. My main concern would be that the 64 validator consensus protocol could be gamed in some way since votes/validators are dependent on holdings (I like to try to think of changes to the BFT protocol that would incorporate coin age in voting or something that would help to mitigate this).  Anyway, at this point removing any ill-begotten coins would probably cause more damage than leaving them.

You Are What You Say.

Please stop telling this bullshit. We all saw in OTC thread your 50K sell order.
Can you give some proofs of your trades? Who sold you SEM?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2281323.msg24118309#msg24118309

And you continue lying to us that you are true supporter of the project and you got your hundred thousands in a fair way.
In the same time you are selling huge amounts of SEM which you have stolen from community distribution.

Why airdrop to BTC holders, though?

  • At this point, most BTC should be held by High Net Value Individuals, aka the 1%. They don't care about yet another coin. I've discussed similar airdrops and one of them told me they won't bother with claiming an air-dropped coin.
  • BTC holders already received a ton of drops this year:

    • BCash
    • BTCG
    • BitCore
    • Byteball
    • deeponion (afaik a certain amount of BTC was required?)
    • Stellar

Would it not make more sense to eg. airdrop to all GitHub users? To all those who can provide a Civic id? To all holders of Altcom + all holders of Renos + some other community project? To all ETH holders who can prove outgoing 5 transactions before start of Oct (would show user is not just a hodler)?

Since I do have a bit of BTC, I would win both ways, but I think a selection for those who are active in the community would be better than a selection for those who were active 5+ years ago and/or are rich now.

The thing is that we like the project, but we don't like you, fucking scammer.
Ok, let's check balances of Frieda and kelly19:

This will be easy to do because most of your multi accounts go right one by one.
Hacked Bitcointalk accounts, fake Russian twitters if you follow those links.

So where Frieda, who really like and believe in this project. Frieda, who suggests us to stay away if we don't like unfair distribution.
Where Frieda transferred her coins?

https://semux.info/explorer/account/0x2a631015aaa6103a2ae3d708fbec083f48ee3935

Frieda transferred coins to the same address as tens and hundreds of other fake airdrop memebers.
Welcome abcde and lkingss - both have 47,000 SEM for each, almost 100K SEM in total.
Both received them from hundreds of fake airdrop account.

I won't be surprised if this is also crimealone, since they appeared together with him and all of them are trying to support scammers and sabotage this project.

I'm wondering if this scammer really succeed to steal 500K - 1M SEM during Alpha and Beta Sad Sounds very bad..

Good ideas, I vote for you as advisor to semux on airdrop distributions  Wink.  I like the idea of a variety of methods, if people are willing to conduct them.

It would not be bad to distribute SEM to people who would like to take care of this preciousness, the problem is that some no commitments could dump, but would be a golden chance to buy at cheap prices! Whatever the method of distribution, I'm supporting the Semux team.

What is the maximum number of validators in RC? I heard about 64 validators. Will this number be the same in mainnet?

This will depend on the result of the RC tests. If it proves to be steady we will keep the 64 max validators. If not we will adjust accordingly.

Excellent post.

Devs you've really got to do something about this..

If you mean to say dev is going to zero out that account, I don't think that will happen. I won't agree to that.

If you mean to say make sure the next rounds of distribution remains fair and prevent similar incident from happening, you bet!

BTC drop and bounties will be announced soon. Watch out for it!

Looking for some advice on the best way to update to the latest version.
I tried copying over the database directory and wallet.data file from the old beta.4 folder to the new rc.1 folder but when I run I just get a lot of 'invalid block' errors in the logs.
Apologies if this has been covered already but I've looked back over the thread and can't find an answer.
Hope I don't have to fully re-sync!
