Best idea so far, perfectly takes out the trolls and leaves serious people.

Theoretically, there should be some sort of registration question/s that could determine whether you're already competent/civil in order to exempt from the posting requirement.

My solution is to spam post in this thread 5 times...

I know it is meant to stop spam, but all you are going to get is 5 spam posts just so the person can post in the section they want.  I actually want to post in a thread I am buying some hardware from, but I can't unless I put 5 useless "+1" posts somewhere...
Pretty much this.
But I understand the limitation.

Anyone advocating a donation/payment upfront doesn't realise how much of a barrier this would be to newbies.

I reckon most would rather join an alternative forum.

If this post was useful, interesting or entertaining, then you've misunderstood.

5 posts is not really a lot, there are so many threads around for you to reply

5 posts is easy, it is the waiting that is hard.

5 posts is fair, but I would have liked some notification of this when I signed up. I thought I was going crazy when I was unable to reply to threads. I had to Google it to find the newbie forum that said you needed to do 5 posts in here and then wait some hours. I agree with it, but it should have been more clearly stated in the signup process.

I'm ok with those limits. Though usually I'd post something only if I have to say something. There is sufficient noise already here.

Quality != Quantity

So I think this is my 5th post now. Took me 4 weeks with 18h "Time Spent Online"  Wink
