We are organizing a chess tournament on Chessque(https://chessque.com) on Septemeber 17th at 2:00 PM (GMT).  We are giving out prizes in bitcoins. If you are a chess enthusiast, do give it a try. Entry fee is just 25000 Satoshi.

It is a 1 min blitz tournament. For more details visit https://chessque.com

Hurry up! Only limited slots are available.

PS: The prize money increases with increase in participation, so dont forget to invite more people to play.

Very nice idea, i play chess buy i am entry level players so it will be helpful for my other friends who are pro in chess. But what about the genuinely of the site and how the site will perform on the games. Because after reading some comments it is sure that their will be lot of bot playing and winning it.

Please dont worry about the bots. We will analyze the games before declaring winners. We have chess masters working with us.

Users can report to us if they feel that they are playing against bots.

If you have any other concerns, please mail us at info@chessque.com

also the time limit is very low, indeed
1 minute control leaves, practically,no time to get distracted on bots
but it is also some kind of a lottery too,I would suggest 2+1 minutes or a similar format
on the other hand, with 1 minute time control, even the not so strong chess players can have a chance to show decent results
as the overall quality of the game will be much lower and even masters can be beaten

We will consider changing the time control for the next tournament. For this tournament we will keep the time control as 1 min with no increment.

1 minute is indeed too short especially for amateurs. Maybe this is good for pros but amateurs will likely be hit by the time limit and just instantly lose. It would be like a tournament where the winner is the guy who moves the fastest.

Still an interesting gambling game though. Good luck to all participants.

its bad for both pros and amateurs, some pros won't be able to finish the game in one minute
even if you have been dominating, sometimes it takes a lot of time to checkmate your opponent
and you will hate losing because you just moved your mouse slower than him Smiley

The point is that (typically) average players are more or less on the same level as players that are +-150 elo [approximately] and can still pull a victory out of their ass if they're against higher-rated players. If you're just randomly plopping down moves then sure, you'll lose via the base game. However, the key part of this is mainly just opening theory and you honestly don't need skill for that: just a repertoire and knowledge of which premoves are risk-free.
I would consider 'pros' at 2k+

the first question that comes to mind: how will you determine if a player is not just another chess programme?
this will be a bot fest, you will be lucky if you get a single legit human player there
also the entry fee is very low, wonder what the prizes are going to be
Ilove chess but my ELO is not high enough to participate in such a tourney
Easy, if they have chat room and we can talk with other player on this game. that wasn't a bot because they held a tournament and i think all participant will don't mind to chat.

It's not that easy! I can run the soft at background and still chat with you.
This is the problem of playing skill games online - bots. Especially when there are prizes involved.
Yahoo was a very good place to play recreational chess from time to time but bots screw it!

I would love to participate and I guess I will because of the low entry fee but I am not a good chess player, every time I have played online against other people 90% of the time I have lost, so it would be worthless for me to join. I am sure the people who will join this tournament will be mainly chess masters so I am staying away. Still a very good idea to hold a tournament in bitcoin and to share as a prize pool a bigger percentage from all the money you will collect from the entrants.

Oh, okay. That makes sense.

but I am not a good chess player
Well, you're being honest about it.

bevery time I have played online against other people 90% of the time I have lost, so it would be worthless for me to join.
Wait, what?

I am sure the people who will join this tournament will be mainly chess masters so I am staying away.
What are you saying? Did you not just say you would enter because of the fee in your very first sentence? These contradictions are asinine.
It's not that easy! I can run the soft at background and still chat with you.

Many times already OP and I have posted about anti-bot conduct. There should be no problem.

I  really have a doubt how they will address if a user lost his internet connection during playing the game. and how they would settle the game reward Huh?

If you disconnect completely then that's too bad: you'll lose the tournament most likely. If during a single independent game, IIRC, the timer goes down until you reconnect. Obviously, with bullet games, this also likely leads to a loss but that's how it is. Get a better connection if you want to play for a prolonged period of time.

Just one more day to go! We are looking for more participation.  This will be an exciting tournament.

Also, if you have registered and not able to participate in the tournament due to unforeseen reason, we will refund your bitcoin.

It's a very good idea. Playing games like this would be great fun and it's not just chess its many other games. The problem is that people will always want to cheat when it comes to winning money.

Very unfortunate that people will ruin things like this since I really like chess. For the life of me I can't figure out anyway to get around this issue. Any ideas ?
