ICO stands Initial Coin Offering on which project to make crowd funding to get investors for the success of their project and helped on its development and as you said there are lots of ICO popping out every other single day which we can really say its hard to choose or the investors would really have the hard decision on selecting project and also the success rate of project would be affected because not all ICO would be funded which they do end up on failing.

Many new icos come out every day , so there are so many icos . Most of them are just scam money from people , only a few of them are funding money to do a real project to solve some problems in our real lives.

As what other people has said above, the initials ICO stands for/means initial coin offering. And in selling stuff(not limited to coins only), people need to draw attention so that people would actually dig in to their products/coins. And so every ICO would do everything they can and whatever gimmicks possible just to have lots of people buying and promoting their coins. Be it freebies, articles, ads. Everything!

I also do not like having all these different coins popping out all of the time. But sad thing is we can't stop it. And knowing i need the money, i just chose to go with the flow.

ICO are basically fresh coins that are yet to be launched in the market . As you know now what ICOs are from the answers above I would like you to also know that creating a new coin or being an investor of a new coin as risky as trading in a shitcoin. ICOs have been in the trend for quite a few months but then the China ban made a huge impact on the trend. Many ICOs have been raising funds from the investors and then scamming them later and running away with their money and that's why ICOs had been banned in China. Its a temporary ban though since they are planning out to regulate ICOs in their country which is major step towards better usage of cryptos in future.

In my opinion, an ICO is an event whereby a company generate funds for a certain project, some of the funds will be used for the development of the project. Early investors are offered bonuses, while the project might consider marketing their coin through bounty campaigns investors will be offered freebies for helping in marketing the project. The company/project usually brings forward a white paper outlining what their project is about and the technology in which it was built on.

Always do your research when looking into ICOs and make sure you take the time to read everything including white papers, who the dev team is what other projects they worked on, and if they actually exist.  There are a large amount of ICO scams out there. Be very careful.

I think reading whitepapers is important, but the most important thing is the testimony of users and investors. If we just look at the developer profile only, it can deceive us. Because who knows that ICO is falsifying their developer profile? Yes, we should read the news and always do the research as you say. But in my opinion, the testimony remains the most important.

ICO by meaning is what we so called the initial coin offering and this is a movement or an association which always find funds from investors to be given away to their respective campaign participant also they are giving away freebies and discounts sometimes in buying coin.
