A altcoin is not dissimilar to bitcoin much. People don't trust bitcoin just because it is the first coin but it is the best, safe and decentralized coin.

Guys, I own 6 different alcoins and during the dip i followed them all go down as the bitcoin was losing in value. Then yesterday when things started stabilising they were all without any exception all rising in value as the bitcoin raised too. So if bitcoin is driving all prices up and down, what's the point of playing with altcoins if no matter what techonology they use and what team stands behind them they ll just follow the bitcoin lead? I am not sure about you but this last situation depressed me a lot, and I would love to read your opinion.
are you joking? have you literally been here 5 minutes? There's so many threads of johnny-come-lately's bitching about alt coin prices! You dont just blindly hop on a bus not knowing where its going, and hope to get to your destination? Surely you know a little about whats happening right now? or did you just get all FOMO and throw money on an exchange? What coins do you have and what price (satoshi) did you pay for them? Some coins are currently over priced/ some are going dirt cheap/ overall though, its common knowledge that the Alts have peaked and are overdue for some major correction downward. When I know what coins you have I can be more specific. |

Not all coins have massive price fluctuations. For example, KELA has built-in price stability - on purpose. |

All things have a beginning. I don't know what coins you have in mind, but even Bitcoin was considered once a joke. With that in mind, things could always change, and another coin could rise up, more than Bitcoin, which will probably happen in the following years.
The question is which one. Because the people always follow the money, and the coin with the most money will rise up the most. Take into account that the oil is not done yet!

In the past, maybe what you say can be the truth. The old top 10 coins like namecoin and feathercoin are gone and all are losing values compare to bitcoin. However, this already have not been the case anymore. One good example is ethereum whereby it is recognised by the general and that is why it shot up in price. Even major fiat exchange recognised it and include ethereum in their system like gemini, coinhako etc.
Ethereum gaining its popularity lately, unlike namecoin and feathercoin, ethereum is backed up by every new project and by its smart contract, it's used by so many project to create ICO by offering ethereum blockchain asset, means, Ethereum have bright future and always gaining demand by the appearance of new project. namecoin and feathercoin as you mentioned, seem just copycat of btc without unique feature I must say. |

Altcoins are joke only before hardfork. Usually bitcoin can even envy some of alts in growing power sometimes.

Some times true but now it’s happening vice Versa where bitcoin price going up and most of the altcoins in my portfolio failing miserably . People selling altcoins and getting bitcoin for next fork so that they may get free bitcoin gold.

I disagree with your opinion. It's surely true Bitcoin is the oldest and most estabilished and used cryptocoin, but its technology is very basic compared to others. There are many useless (and also scam) projects in the altcoins world, but there are also very good project, with useful features and advanced technology. It's not so easy to discern the good ones from the bad ones, but in my opinion there are very good project in the altcoins world as well. I also suggest you to not think only about price, but to stay more focused on long-term value of the coins, their technology and which problem they are going to solve (for example disrupting old industries, make innovations, etc.) |

Without the altcoins bitcoin won't be progressing too, this is actually a healthy competition for bitcoin. I still like altcoins and most of all I love bitcoin, although there are some alternate coins that are a joke but not all of them are.

Before you're just research 6 altcoins/1157 altcoins hence you dont see altcoin which still increase value when Bitcoin was down. BTC Dominance is 51.6% Coin Market Cap so bitcoin will control the market |

altcoins is a big investment in the crypto world the investor put a large amount for the founds into the ICO becomes to be valuable coins i think putting a big amount of capital are not joke.

Altcoins has a better gain than bitcoin and eth because of the percentage increase of it. As today bitcoin prices going up it is just a few percentage increase as to whole price of bitcoin before it increase unlike in altcoins , there are altcoins that can reach more than 100% increase on its value for just a couple of days or even hours which never happens lately on bitcoin. maybe before when the price of btc is just less than $100 were it double its value for just a couple of hrs or days. |

Nothing is going to change. After the hard fork, the Bitcoin dominance is going to increase. The exchange rates of the altcoins are going to remain the same (in terms of USD), while that of Bitcoin is going to increase rapidly. I hope that soon the Bitcoin market dominance is going to cross the 90% mark (just like it was the case in 2016). |

You have to learn about patience and trust. If you trust your altcoins, hold. Some will pay great rewards. I have my example. Some altcoins became dust indeed, but I have at least one that had more than 100x growth (in USD) from when I bough to the value today, which is not even the top value it had. As a comparison, Bitcoin growth in same period was less than 25x, which is also wow, still 4x lower. |

That's the big reason behind but big players knows how to play the game and traders are now becoming wiser I'm positive that those quality alts will gain support while fork for btc gold are incoming, better to buy those what they've called joke and enjoy the ride. |

It's true that bitcoin will lead the direction of most alt coins. Because of this, many traders use the altcoins to leverage their accounts in a way. The gains can be significantly better in bull runs and significantly worse (to bitcoins decline). This can certainly lead to you losing most of your money in alt coins if you are not careful, but developing strategies to avoid this can help your account significantly. Get into the practice of only buying QUALITY altcoins when they have bottomed out or at least not pumped and possibly consider setting tight stop losses. The latter is more/less important depending on if you are a daytrader/swingtrader/investor. |

I do not agree with your opinion altcoins are not joke. Some altcoin has really good future ahead but I agree bitcoin is more promising & more profitable & more reliable coin in the present market. Apart from this I believe some altcoins are doing really very well those are: Ltc, Dash, Eth, Etc, Stratis, Xmr, Xrp & Waves you can consider these coins as well.
