Also   regarding the  coin supply , obviously it's  better  when it  is low, but  how much low ?

Long term you want more coins focused on solving a legitimate real world problem rather than a coin that is merely trying to piggyback on bitcoin and altcoin trend.

That's also what Vitalik said and I think there are right now too many coins that don't really do anything.

With that being said, if you look into privacy coins like pivx monero cloak, xvg, etc, those will be good in future.

Also coins that are protocol based like Ethereum and Neo will be good too. Stratis is way down right now probably it will recover soon

What you need to look at is at the circulating supply to total supply ratio and of course, the technology and devs (and how often they update things, if they are active etc).

If it's minable, you want it to have a coin release curve similar to bitcoin (in other words, the opposite of fiat currency). Look at this to understand it:



If it's not minable then you just need to look at the total supply since there is no issuing. But at the end of the day, the technology will dictate how much money wants to be put on your coin, but it's good to make it scarce to incentivize hodling.

The total amount of coins does not matter. As long as you understand that the individual coin value will have a lower value potential for a coin that has a high total supply. You'll just need to hold more of them, than you would a coin with a lower circulating supply, to achieve the same margins. (this of course directly relates to coin market cap)

Coins under 200m market cap certainly have a higher potential to gain increases above 100%. But that doesn't always make them a good investment. In fact, it also means they are more susceptible to experiencing extreme loss of value. Much more so than a higher market cap coin.

High market cap = less chance for extreme gain, but lower risk
Low market cap = more chance for extreme gain, but high risk

I would like to believe this is true -- but after spending some time amongst crypto communities, it seems this is not usually the case.
The crypto world doesn't typically seem to care if a coin was created by someone as a joke (Doge), or a team of geniuses that like to launch rockets in their spare time (NXS).

For me it doesn't matter whether a coin is Mineable, Airdrop or ICO. The main thing is the solid developer behind it, how the team want to achieve their plan and also strong community around the project

I'm not an expert, but it seems like some are worried about future quantum computing. PoS coins shouldn't have that worry. Although it's debatable whether how urgent this concern is

The total amount of coins does not matter. As long as you understand that the individual coin value will have a lower value potential for a coin that has a high total supply. You'll just need to hold more of them, than you would a coin with a lower circulating supply, to achieve the same margins. (this of course directly relates to coin market cap)

I disagree with this fact, I think the total amount of coins matters. People tend to not like to hold long term coins that have billions of total circulating coins. This is an interesting subject, it may be psychological or not, but I think it's a fact.

The coin release is obviously important because if the inflation is too strong, the price will face constant dumping.
