Im interested as well - can someone tell me which HW is best for mining aeon?
Is a GPU better than a CPU for this crypto?  ..if not, then which CPU is best suited for it?

Do I mine it on my computer or join a pool?

thanks in advance.

cheers!

hello.
the easiest one is minergate pool, that has an own gui client.
is you prefer another pool, you can still use the client, just configure (in the gui too!) your pool, and you're ready.

yes minergate is ok for me too
I am mining aeon, monero and bytecoin
at the moment for my cpu(quadcore) are the ones with best hashes
it's very easy to setup and in my opinion profitable
I dn't care about electricity price because I am investing at long term

how to mine aeon and monero with cpu?
I'm a little late, but I feel like the answer until now are not really the best.
CPU mining is the easiest to set up. This is for windows:

1. Get a miner like this one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1326803.0;topicseen
Be careful what version / CPU to get and use.

2. Download the wallet, run the daemon leave it until it sync, run simplewallet (aeon) or monero-wallet-cli (xmr), check what address you have

3. Find a pool al run the miner, like
aeon --> cpuminer_something.exe -a cryptolight -o stratum+tcp://aeon.rupool.tk:4444 -u yourwallet -p x
or
xmr --> cpuminer_something.exe -a cryptonight -o stratum+tcp://mine.xmrpool.net:3333 -u yourwallet -p x

I dn't care about electricity price because I am investing at long term
But there are methods on the net, to reduce power / hash needed. It means more hashrate and a bit much power consumption, but overall it will be cheaper.
Example: without adjustments: 21mhs - 100w. with adjustments: 26mhs - 110w.
Check it for your hardware!

I have a workstation with 2 Xeon 2996v4 CPU. They are 22cores(44 threads) 2,2 ghz (but actually always in turbo at 2,8 ghz). With AEON I'm limited to 27 threads per CPU, since each thread need 2MB L3 cache. Do you know a way to utilize the CPU 100% ?
Mining another coin ? Any good suggestion for CPU mining ?
Thanks!

AEON is better on CPU from my experience.
I have a PC with nVidia 1080 and I'm getting 1100 H/s. With core i7 6950x @4.2 GHZ I get 2600 H/s (using 12 threads since more threads just degradete performace).

Hey guys, i know you all go say have some people showing how to do it in the forum, but i tryed use their tutorial and no sucess on work it yet.

Can you guys teach me or show me a goog tutorial how to mine aeon and monero with cpu?

Thanks and sorry botter.

Everything about monero mining you will find at https://web.xmrpool.eu/#getting_started

If you want solo mining, just install the Monero GUI and start mining.

Just my 2 cents and I know it's not the ideal solution, but Minergate has been a pretty reliable backup for me. Other miners can be difficult to setup and keep working for beginners (like me). Right now I mainly use XMR-STAK for gpu and cpu, but if I'm making changes or have some sort of technical issue I can pop up Minergate and get some coin in the background while I fix things. Never had the withdrawal issues or anything others speak of. That said, I do hope you get something better working.
