I see three problems with this: scalability, scalability and scalability. At the moment bitcoin is still not ready for the volume that amazon would bring and i'm afraid that at the current point it would do more harm than good. Once the network is able to process at least one million transactions per second, (and reduce fees) this would be a completely different story.
Why isn't it ready? What negative effects could this have? We have more than enough miners at the moment and new publicity will bring in even more.

that is a non problem because even if Amazon starts accepting bitcoin there won't be a huge rise in the number of transactions per day. the adoption is always a slow process. there may be some increase at first but it won't go from current 230K to 1 million tx/day all of a sudden. it may take a year to get there and with SegWit and hopefully LN some of this can be covered. although i don't see a need for 1 million tx/sec even in a year.

This is a rumour I think. There is a less chance that amazon will accept bitcoin. But if it does then bitcoin will more valuable than ever. And amazon will also get profit from it. But as amazon runs in different nations they have to convince the governments . And I don't think any Gov will allow that easily.

Recently, there was a rumor spread by the community that Amazon would make a decision to accept Bitcoin in the near future and likely to take place in early October, but the rumor is based solely on a post, the blog is misleading and almost certainly wrong because there are not any official announcements from Amazon. Amazon has long been considered the "white whale" of Bitcoin acceptance. As one of the world's leading retailers, their decision to accept Bitcoin will help Bitcoin's value grow stronger and create tremendous trust. However, Amazon has not issued public statements indicating that they will make the payment by Bitcoin, and the fact that there are very few reasons to motivate them to do so.

I really like this speculation somehow. As I'm very loyal amazon user both for aws and their online store, that would make me so happy.

If Amazon actually accepts bitcoin as a transaction tool on their site it will be very encouraging Because this proves that bitcoin is increasingly recognized by everyone and the evidence that bitcoin is growing

If amazon really starts to accept bitcoin it will be a big victory for bitcoin community. Unfortunately, I don't think it's a real news.

Sounds great, I'll be able to buy loads of things from Amazon using my bitcoin. Not only me, many others who have been waiting for such a thing to happen. Finally good news for people who don't know where to spend their bitcoin on. Amazon's this move will be analyzed by it's competitors will soon do the same.

It seems to be a rumor.Amazon has millions of users world wide and many would be happy if it accepts bitcoin.It is expected that on october 26th,the announcement may come during amazon's next earning conference call.
Expedia,TigerDirect,Microsoft's store,Overstock now accept bitcoins.Amazon may take such a step of accepting bitcoins to compete with overstock as they would not like any of the customers to switch to overstock for the reason of bitcoin payment.

If it is true it is a great new because amazon will bring bitcoin more popularity and open new ways to sell and buy goids with bitcoin.

As per my information still Amazon have not started to accept Bitcoin, or it may be that they are not giving this support in my country, but will be very happy if they start to support bitcoin payment in my country also.

This thread was started in Sept 2017 and nothing happened since, so you can accept the fact that is was fake news. Amazon already have agreements in place with PayPal and Banks, so why would they want to accept a new form of payment that are used by a small percentage of their total user base? {We cannot deny it, we are still very small compared to other payment options}

I am hoping with amazon ebay should also jump in bitcoin. Paypal in ebay just sucks. I am sure every user in ebay will be very much comfortable using bitcoin rather paypal. Just an suggestion. Also when amazon ultimately use this we can expect a boom in price.
