According to a newsletter from The James Altucher Report, Amazon will soon begin accepting Bitcoin, which they will officially announce as early as October 26th during their earnings conference call.

The news seems to be fake news we have to wait for official announcement because without government interaction it is not possible to accept bitcoin.
That's why people should wait for official announcement from the owner of Amazon.

I just saw this. I will stay skeptic until confirmed news. I mean it's possible. Remember when the fake news about Steam accepting Bitcoins appeared? Nobody was believing that Steam was going to accept Bitcoin, then it got confirmed as fake, but eventually news arose again and guess what, everyone said it was fake news again, but it happened for real. So what this means is, don't think it's fake because it may actually be true and if it's true we are going $10,000 easy.

i found something like this a hour ago in other thread and right now i can see it right here,
but the different is one of them using a higher ranking account and another one using a newly born account.
lets forget about ranking account for now and take a look at your so called 'news'.

There hasn't been any other website covering this, let alone any official confirmation.

Very interesting, but it probably has already been priced it, because regular users are the last to get the rumors and news. But in the long run it might give Bitcoin a good bump as this is what we are all waiting for - more and more companies to start accepting it, especially the big and popular ones.


"China bans Bitcoin" was also a fake news for a very long time, I think what is happening is that when people in government or some company start discussing possibilities about Bitcoin, it leaks thus creating rumors, which at some point might turn into news.

Well you can't really compare number of people using Steam and Amazon. I believe that they do want to accept Bitcoin at some point but just image legal stuff that they are required to do, especially in the US

If its true this would be the biggest Bitcoin announcement ever, but unfortunately this is not the first time people have speculated on Amazon adding Bitcoin as a payment.

Why something from a government should be needed for Amazon to accept Bitcoin as a payment method. Do you think retailers ask for govt to be able to accept Paypal, cards etc? Nope. None of the currents merchants accepting Bitcoin asked something to any institution.

Since Amazon is expert about taxes optimizations, to who they should ask permission? USA, Luxembourg, Ireland? U.N.?

It won't have a major effect on price nowadays mostly anyon who uses the web daily on social media or tech news is aware of bitcoin and there are so many sites which work as middle man to buy things from amazon using bitcoin and also gives a discount if amazon is able provide that the price will have a positive effect

the chances of this news being true are really dim.
the sources are not reliable and they are mostly making a guess. they don't have real proof. for example back when Steam started accepting bitcoin, everyone was speculating like this too but the difference was that by that time we had some small proof (Valve email to some Steam game devs telling them about bitcoin).

my speculation is that Amazon will eventually accept bitcoin. if it isn't this October it will be pretty soon. they will be left behind if they don't.

I have not seen an official announcement from amazon. this is indeed very good news for the development of bitcoin but when all that can not be true it will be useless. so there needs to be an official statement from amazon about the next step on bitcoin. because then the bitcoin and amazon will make them both stronger and bigger as one of the important sectors.

This is old news, It was already posted in Reddit sometime ago. Amazon is a big company, If this was true, someone from the inside would've leaked it already. Regardless, the guy who actually spoke about this is some kind of con artist from what I've read so better not hope much.

The news is fake, I guess. But then it might be a strategy of Amazon to see how people will react. If they see that many people is okay with it, they will probably do it. Think of how many things you can buy in Amazon since you are now rich in BTC.

News like these pop out every now and then. If this ever happens, Amazon is taking a big risk because BTC value is unpredictable. They can gain or loss a lot if they soon accept BTC

The acceptance of bitcoin from amazon will be a boost in the cryptoworld to get mainstream. Hope it will happen and more centralised marketplaces will start accepting it.

big companies like Amazon (specially if they are located in USA) won't add bitcoin until two things become clear for them:

1. there will be customers using bitcoin.
and this is the most important of all. if they come to believe that there is going to be enough demand for it, they will add bitcoin without hesitation.

2. bitcoin is regulated
this is less important because we can see other big companies like Valve already accepted bitcoin without any problem and it has been a year. but being regulated (like Japan) speeds up their decision making process by a lot.

The news seems fake but I will not be surprised that in future they finally accept. It is getting every time more social impact and it is limited supply value will only increase.

It is pretty obvious they try to get a bunch of it, so even if this gouvernement starts doing it, how big companys wont start doing the same?

The news is pretty good. I believe this is the beginning of Bitcoin's progress. hopefully, the price can be more expensive next year.

That fake news created a lot of buzz all because if Amazon would finally get into the Bitcoin bandwagon then it can really be a big news and a big boos to Bitcoin as it can push the coin to be a utilized currency in everyday commerce and not just a store of value and a vehicle of speculation like it is now.

Now, while it was not really true and Amazon did not became a part of Bitcoin -- yet -- there is a big possibility that in the near future Amazon would finally feel the need to add Bitcoin as part of the many ways to buy their products online. once Amazon would come in we could expect others to also follow the lead.

If this is not another fake that is very good. The inability to buy goods with bitcoins is in my opinion the biggest flaw of all crypto currencies. Probably fake news, but it would be really good for whole crypto world if some global company like Amazon started accepting BTC for payment. Amazon tries to make popular Amazon Pay and now you want to say that they will support bitcoin? There is no way. They even ask you to confirm your card when you order something on different adress, so bitcoin is very far from this. Despite the fact of how popular bitcoin will be in future, they won't accept it or there will be some service provider where you will be able to deposit with bitcoin and then get visa card which will be accepted by amazon + id card verification, limitd and etc.
It's something similar of saying that ebay and google will accept bitcoin over paypal and google pay.

Yea even I have heard about Amazon accepting bitcoin as payment. That would really be good if Amazon starts accepting payments in bitcoins that would be really helpful and I have high hopes about this.

i think so someone spreading rumors about amazon as amazon is big dealing company of online nowadays it's natural to have rumors news. without government official announcement regarding bitcoins no one can make it official because it will be illegal.

that's what makes me ask questions. what is right about this news. or just a web that wants to increase the rating of its visitors.

If this happens then it will be huge for amazon and for everyone who is holding bitcoin, because this will be one of the first shops that is accepting bitcoin, and a lot of shops or online shops will start accepting bitcoin and other cryptos after this, because it has been the first, and everybody wants to see how it really works, and if it is profitable for the website.

How significant is it that Microsoft store accepts bitcoin?

Sure this would be nice in terms of bitcoin mass adoption or as a support to BTC in general.
But lets be realistic: to do business or especially a trade business like amazon does BTC at the moment is way too volatile.
If there are 20% swings in value compared to any fiat currency in one day it would be really hard for amazon to calculate their business.
Furthermore there are other problems that are not really solved at the moment, ie the number of transactions in a given timeframe or even legal issues.
So imo its a long way for bitcoin to get there.
I say its possible and also i believe in it but it will take some time.
No need to hype yet.

This might be pure speculation only, but it is benefiting BTC, and giving a increase in BTC value. More news like this would be so good for BTC! If Amazon accepts, then this would make BTC increase it's value more and more, because many people would start using BTC for buying stuff on Amazon!

The news is fake, it is still a long way before big guns like Amazon can adopt bitcoin, the volatility of bitcoin is not healthy for retail businesses as it still needs fiat currency for his operations.

I dont think on short term Amazon will accept bitcoin, as soon as it is recognized and is accepted widely there is a very good chance Amazon will eventually accept payments with bitcoin, to be honest I dont even know why they shouldn't, bitcoin has proven itself to be steady and it would benefit Amazon also, this of course would be huge news and cryptocurrency lovers as myself would me madly happy once the news comes out.

Amazon has not become the monster it is right now by not embracing new technology.

It is very good news especially for those people who often purchase different commodities through online. The payment will be more secure and transparent. The business of amazon will definitely increase due to this step. I bought bitcoin for two reasons. To increase my assets and to easily use my bitcoin wallet everywhere in the world without any hesitation and also no tension to change your local currency.

If Amazon started accepting bitcoin then all other big companies of the world will also do the same. Their payments collections will be easier and they will feel more reliable. Therefore I think that accepting bitcoin as regular currency is the new step of bitcoin success. Now more and more people will trust bitcoin and will convert their local currency in bitcoin for their convenience and comfort.

The news articles that popped up were indeed fake, but apparently, not everyone is realizing that yet.... Other than that, the volatility shouldn't be a concern for any merchant considering to accept Bitcoin as payment option. The far majority of the merchants accepting Bitcoin do that through a third party payment processor -- this service takes care of the entire process, and pays merchants in fiat the next business day. Merchants do have the option to keep a certain percentage of their sales in Bitcoin, but for obvious reasons, this option doesn't experience much use. Especially not when it comes to non tech related merchants.

The acceptance of Bitcoin on Amazon would be something huge, it would shake the world economy and skyrocket the price of BTC, Thus it is very unlikely that we will see that happening in the near future. I think it will be years until we see that happen, there is too much unknowns now.

Yes, i saw this new a few days ago, and i have to say that i am so impressed about this, because this would be a giant step for all those who are holding bitcoins for long term, if it really happens, then it means that bitcoin will grow a lot in a near future, because a lot of shops are going to add bitcoin to their payment gateways, and it will make bitcoin go up too, so i am happy to see that this is really happening.

I don't know if this is possible, but this thread title should be reworded...as it stands this sounds like that if we generate "Bitcoin Speculation", it will be accepted by Amazon, as if Amazon actually wants us to speculate about bitcoin so that the company can then accept this speculation for some reason.

There is always an atom of truth in some rumor. whether it is a rumor or not if Amazon venture into accepting bitcoin it will be the greatest decision they have ever make because it will make purchasing  and making payment with Amazon  very simple and fast. When the news filtered the airwaves some weeks back, I was initially on the pessimist side because the same several news has happened neither would the party concerned confirm it nor would will see the implementation but with date attached to it now, I am likely to believe it to a large extent but at the same time, there is a long period between now and on the 26th which means things can still change. As we await the official news, let all keep the hopes high.

Not only that Amazon is the company we want to accept bitcoin. They sell all kinds of things and actually own different companies under the Amazon name. They are a giant and this would be the biggest step bitcoin has taken in all its years in my opinion.

I also think that this source is not reliable, news about Amazon accepting bitcoins are in circulation for years, and I will not believe in this until it finally happen. 16 days until the date, I would like this to happen, I will buy something on Amazon with bitcoins and I will see how that works soon as it happen. I think some people wrote to Amazon and they shared their answer, they can get many new customers with accepting bitcoins and they know it, that's why they will accept bitcoins one day.

I see three problems with this: scalability, scalability and scalability. At the moment bitcoin is still not ready for the volume that amazon would bring and i'm afraid that at the current point it would do more harm than good. Once the network is able to process at least one million transactions per second, (and reduce fees) this would be a completely different story.

The Amazon are already watching bitcoin for sure and they are just waiting for bitcoin to become more stable and stronger than before and now so if they will accept it then they will not have any problem with the usage of bitcoin because one of the reason why they are not accepting it because of the volatility that can cause them to have losses which is not good for a merchant because they will have negative profit.

that is a non problem because even if Amazon starts accepting bitcoin there won't be a huge rise in the number of transactions per day. the adoption is always a slow process. there may be some increase at first but it won't go from current 230K to 1 million tx/day all of a sudden. it may take a year to get there and with SegWit and hopefully LN some of this can be covered.
although i don't see a need for 1 million tx/sec even in a year.

This is a rumour I think. There is a less chance that amazon will accept bitcoin. But if it does then bitcoin will more valuable than ever. And amazon will also get profit from it. But as amazon runs in different nations they have to convince the governments . And I don't think any Gov will allow that easily.

Expedia,TigerDirect,Microsoft's store,Overstock now accept bitcoins.Amazon may take such a step of accepting bitcoins to compete with overstock as they would not like any of the customers to switch to overstock for the reason of bitcoin payment.

As per my information still Amazon have not started to accept Bitcoin, or it may be that they are not giving this support in my country, but will be very happy if they start to support bitcoin payment in my country also.

already have agreements in place with PayPal and Banks, so why would they want to accept a new form of payment that are

I dont think that Amazon is likely to accept Bitcoin in the near future. Companies like Amazon wont just add a currency as payment method that isnt recognized by the authorities. I think that there needs to be a regulatory framework around crypto before we will witness such a thing. Maybe this wont become a reality with Bitcoin, but with another cryptocurrency that is regulatory compliant like cardano. Time will tell, but Im certain that sooner or later we will be able to buy stuff with our crypto at these big companies like amazon as well.

Amazon.com as far I know is already bitcoin accepted, this is what I knew regarding about it. Due to if your going to check their site you can see they sell any mining rigs then you can pay it using Bitcoin. But this is just what I saw before when I opened their website.

This was clearly nonsense, especially if you consider both the volatility of Bitcoin, and the very high fees for transactions and delays in confirmations. There is no way at the moment to use Bitcoin for anything else than speculation.

We will know when something like this is about to happen because the market will move first. We will here about it after a spike. So much big money will go in before it's in public domain.

This is not very likely when you have to spend 20$ of fees to buy a 2$ object and it can take days to confirm the transaction. Nor Amazon nor any big retail would ever adopt Bitcoin if there is only the remote possibility of something like that happening.

I think its an unconfirmed news. As I read before ,that  the amazon don't accept bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies as payment . The last time I checked is that Amazon is still not accepting bitcoin as payment. Maybe because of US law? Is it because of its volatility? This is kinda old now, there are many articles that have been made about bitcoin and amazon but then there was no any progress about Amazon's accepting bitcoin as a payment. There is no official announcement made on their website and for now, it is just all speculation's but I do think this is really possible that Amazon will actually do it but then we still need to wait for their announcement until then.

Why would Amazon accept Bitcoin when they could develop their own crypto currency or token on which they will have control and can develop as per their needs. They have the required resources and developers for that. Also Bitcoin isn't ready yet to handle the number of transactions Amazon has.
