Block Breaking - Breaking Block For The Forum!

:Project Outlook:
:

To pool efforts in a group to break a block for members in the community that may have older equipment that will no longer make a return or bring back online as much hardware as possible to break blocks for the community in a pooled effort.

Q.  Why not just point my miners on my own?

You could point your single machine at the pool and get lucky and crack a block but the theory behind bitcoin is that the more power you have the higher the chance you have of breaking a block.  So a consolidated effort to find a block has a greater chance of finding a block.

Q. How do we know you won't keep the block for yourself?

I have spoken with CK the owner of CK pool and he has agreed to escrow the funds for a 1% fee on top of the pool fee of 1%.  So you are safe in the knowledge that a trusted forum member is in full control of the winning block and the earnings would be distributed accordingly.

There are 25 places for members to take part in round 1 if you are interested and have ASIC miner available to point at this project then please leave your forum name and hash rate offered in the format below.

Once we have all the details in place for the escrow and we have a list of members we will post the worker address for people to connect to.:

We are looking to fill the list to around or over the 100TH mark for the project to go ahead.

To be clear, everyone would use the same username bitcoin address that I provide them and use a different workername for me associate them with your account, and the btc addresses associated with each workername I would have to know before the round began. Should a block be found, I would distribute the funds based on the relative hashrate of each worker at the time a block was found. Please coordinate amongst yourselves and finalise how many miners you are before considering beginning. If your hashrate is small (<100TH) despite there being many people, I will not be offering this service for the inconvenience and low likelihood of finding a block makes it not worthwhile.

I will add you to the list this will not start untill we reach the 100TH mark another 4.73 TH would take the required down to 97.79TH

Please keep us updated when your hardware arrives.

Posted link to topic on the pool topic, I am sure there is more than a few users that will jump at the idea of a group effort to break a block.

Let's see how much power is on offer like you said to see if its going to be worth while idea.

Due to fluctuations in reported hashrate, I would be basing it on the total shares submitted by each miner to the pooled effort which will be the most accurate measure of overall hashrate as it may be difficult to extract the exact hashrate of each worker at exactly the time a block is found.

I think that is the best idea it is also a good way to give a more accurate structure and it's easy to understand.

Hi there,

Is there a minimum hashrate to join?
We're not in the same league (I currently have a single S3), but it would be fun to join.

Thanks.

Any ASIC miner will do for this.  Though the more hashrate the better.

What power have your available?

Just updated my post to include that... I have a single S3 for now, just experimenting Smiley
If it looks promising, I'll be investing in more.

Hmm. I just read somewhere, that with today's numbers, around 2830TH/s is needed to mine 1 BTC/day. This would mean that with 100TH/s, we can mine 1 BTC every 28-29 days. Am I on the right track?

With this OP there is no reward unless a block is found.

If a block is found the funds would be distributed to users by CK the owner of the pool.

Basic Reward for a block is 12.5 BTC + transaction fees.

The pool deducts 1% fee automaticly from the block reward for pool fees. a further 1% would be given to ck for the escrow service.

The rest of the balance would be worked out as ck said.

"Total shares submitted by each miner to the pooled effort"

There is no calculation as to how long or short it will take to break a block but the more members that participate the better our chances will be.

There is a lot of members who do not run large power I have a number of s3's running solo at the moment.

Many people are jumping into mining now picking up older hardware that really struggles to make a return if at all depending on electrical cost and where in the world you are so the idea behind this is to create a collective effort to break a block and older hardware is more than acceptable.

I have added you to the list once we reach the target of 100TH or more we will move to collecting worker names and btc addresses for each participant.
