No, it's not delayed. As I know it would be tested in testnet for 4 weeks before the final release at mainnet. Please correct me if I'm wrong

I don't like how Ethereum is using hardforking so lightly, like there are no risks involved.
Anyone know if ETC is following the same type of route?

ETC is not doing any hard fork for now, but I read somewhere that they too will need to hard fork in future to resolved some issues, Ethereum foundation are trending a very messy route, of course they don't know the implications of what they are doing now until they shoot themselves on the foot.

Ethereum's Byzantium hardfork is first phase of the larger metropolis update. the code updates will introduce changes to increase the functionality of the network while minimizing potential exploits and also paving the way for novel cryptography on the ethereum platform. And it is now delayed to block no 437,000,000 which may occur around October 17. Nothing to be worried as a user.

No it wasn't delayed. It is on schedule, there was never a hard date for it but october is still the timeline. First phase Byzantium in progress.
Has it been decided that they will all follow Vitalik's map for hardforking? I think I read that there were other people working on different hardfork versions. If I recall, it was even a developer that Vitalik hired a few years back to help but some time last year he disagreed about the current hardfork method. What will the time be to introduce that alternative?

Is it already a fact that eth will perform a hard fork? Why is it really needed? It's still about the change to proof of stake, right? Is hard fork the only way to do that? Come on, hard fork is usually a bad thing, it is likely to negatively affect the price. Especially this difficulty bomb, so that miners stop mining it. I hope it will go well, the second best crypto crushing is not exactly what we need on the market right now.

Why another hard fork on the ethereum chain? What's the issue this time? Also, will we get double coins like last time?

i did not read something that there will be miners for the pre-fork-chain. so there won't be to chains and there won't be a new coin.

Its no issue its the planned growth of the ethereum network. The fork will not result in a chainsplit cause its a planned fork for the last step the serenity (switch from PoW to PoS)

I don't think the chain will split, and we won't see a new version of ETH. But I'm not sure if the market might dip again as the fork gets closer. I don't think it's a risk myself, but the market can have a bit of an over reaction sometimes!
