Its hard to tell what will do good anymore with so many coins being launched. Give it a try and see if someone is willing to trade for other alt-coins. I personally wouldn't say its worth it though, I would wait.

The devs were really nice and confident though, but it all seems erratic, there look like hundreds of coins and noone is helping me set up. Is there some thing i can mine profitably right now?

Litecoin or check my sig for what to mine. You just need to know how many hashes you would be getting just type in 500 in both boxes for an idea.

These new alt coins come out almost every single day, sometimes two per day, its been this way for a long time. They are all pump and dumps, if you can mine early, you can make a little by selling. Some make it to an obscure exchange, but die quick... Its like day trading with stocks, takes a little more know how, but BTC and LTC are the only two big wigs. If I had a nickel for every alt coin Ive seen die within a week or two after launch........

Unless you can mine, pump and dump, and closely follow the fad, stick with BTC and LTC -

bitcoin wont pay back any investment i make, i'll just be helping to push along others. I think i'll take my chances and mine alts, then when my brother's coin comes out, i'll be right at the front.  Grin Grin

All of these altcoins are using BTC/LTC as a base for trading anyways. It really is just a gamble if pumping and dumping will pay off. Sometimes its best to check out the googlespreadsheet exchanges before getting invloved, if it hasn't went to a market yet that is. Will give you an idea how much it *might* dump for, but I'd expect all coins to decrease after the first wave of sells. Just look at LuckyCoin Sad Didn't get so lucky there..

Wow never heard of most of these. Why so many?
Two reasons:

1. kids who wanted to play miner but difficulty on real coins is too high
2. scammers gonna scam
