People are buying a ton of different ICO's because some of them go to the moon and deliver insane gains, but of course, you might as well buy lottery tickets because at this poin, with so many ICOs and so many scams, buying the right one that moons is increasingly unlikely. But unlike lottery, with ICO's you can do research and know what you are buying, so if you do enough research, you may find the next (rare) project that actually brings value to the table and pumps nicely for a reason.

This is what value investing is. Most of the work is done on the research of the endless projects out there, not trading.

Before investing into any ICO and buying any tokens issued on the ICO project basis, you need to conduct a thorough research about the chosen ICO. If the ICO project occurs to be successful, its investors will have the opportunity to gain significant profits. By making investments into the ICO project, its owner has the chance to raise funds to make that ICO a really working product with further financial perspectives for all parties involved.

Well you this means that you've got a lot to learn. You should first of all what an ICO is.
ICO stands for initial token offering which basically means projects issue tokens to early investors for really cheap prices.

For example, you came across a new project that is just starting. What you need have to do is read about it, read the whitepaper,  check and decide if it's really useful and has a potential in the future. If you had learned enough about it and think it's great and is totally gonna work out, you buy tokens of the project.

Basically all ICO participants get these tokens for a low price. Once everything is over and the token becomes available on exchanges, that's the time you should earn profits (well only if it's a really good one). And how much you earn depends on how much people are getting more interested in it.

Some get you OK profits while some might go crazy. Reportedly some people earned 5 times their capital with 0x.
So yeah it's fun and you can get money out of it,  so why not ?

I invest in ICO projects that I believe that the projects have promising future and able to bring good returns for my investment. At ICO stage, the coins are usually offered at a lower price. And investors will be able to earn a few times to 20 or 30 times of the investments.

You have to be really careful when choosing coin for investing, don't put all your investment in one ICO and always make a deep research on the project before putting any cents.

There have been lots of scam projects which ran away with all ICO funds and some of the ICO's wallet got hacked after crowdfunding making investors to lost millions of dollar before.

I have bought KMD during ICO and sold it for almost 30x return recently, this is one of the beauty behind ICO but you have to choose good project and should wait for 6 months+.

Everyone follows those who succeed with their own ways and I have seen many investors making tens of thousands x returns over their investments in ICOs, but they followed such ICOs which had something in it and those that featured something unique in their own kind just like Bitcoins. ICOs have become a new way of developers to allure newer investors and many such ICOs even scammed their users which is its biggest advantage. I know it's hard to know whom to trust and whom to not, but try to look for some better ICOs which you think, might reward you for your kind investment and you may succeed like an early bird just the way those people did that are sitting at the top who bought BTC in 2010 or maybe 2011.

This is a very important point with ICOs. I wouldn't call it a lottery though, as you only have one chance to win big there. But it is a LOT like gambling now. ICOs promise big returns, and everyone talks about values on exchanges and all that but a lot of it is rigged. From rigged markets, to rigged products (or even none at all). The best thing to do now is to choose one or two good ICOs based on YOUR OWN research.

And then hope for the best.

Most of us buys into ICO to make a quick flip. Many ICO's have a hard cap meaning that only a limited no of people can join the ICO and after few days or weeks when more people want to buy into the project the price shoots up.

We all buy these tokens because we either believe in the project or believe in the team behind the project to bring something great to the table. Then there is that percentage of people that also buy to simply make a quick buck from the ICO to exchange flip when it hits coinmarketmap.

If you really study the whitepapers of an ICO and you believe in the product coupled to the new coin, then you could invest in an ICO. Most times you get a bonus and that is the reason you can invest in an ICO, else you could just wait for the coin to get listed on an exchange and see what the coin does. That's less risky, but you'll miss the bonuses.

i buy these tokens because their plans are just too good to resist that sometimes i can see myself counting millions of USD in the next years to come all because of a $500 investment. this ain't a shitty dream but i've somehow experienced a lot of times about profiting exponentially from a $100 to more than a thousand just by riding a pump.
