If bitcoin is ever going to be used by the masses, the price should get up to at least a million dollars, in order to give value to small amounts and so that a lot of people can own it.  I see it as definitely possible, but I don't think it's going to happen within the next few years.   But I've been totally wrong about crypto before, so my thoughts don't mean a hell of a lot.

Can you imagine how rich these people from Africa, the Philippines, and the rest of the poor countries would be just from presently working on sig campaigns--assuming they save it and don't gamble or whatever.   Campaigns will probably only pay a few satoshis, and unfortunately the network fees would probably be unheard of.   That's something I don't look forward to.

Hmm.. although it may seem a little bit too surreal or exaggerated at first thought, it really can be something achievable. The reason why I believe this can happen is because if you think about the history of bitcoin from the very beginning till now(which was from nothing to something big), it really has gotten far. And with every adversity it only got better. So I think a million wouldn’t be something that is impossible to achieve when it comes to bitcoin. Although we might not be able to reach that with our age, but i think it will probably happen some time in the future. Either that, or it becomes just a memory from the past in the future and soon forgotten.

if 21 million people use bitcoin and we are about 7000 million people that means when 7000 million people can use bitcoin each one can worth

The most likely to happen is around 10k-100k. So 1M is a bit too much, I think.

It is possible and i believe that the price can be value at 1 million in a less year.  Too much demand of bitcoin the more chance that bitcoin can be rise.

this does look crazy and seems like an impossible thing. but if we see the development of bitcoin from the beginning then it all starts from a very simple thing. at the beginning of its appearance a bitcoin has no value and the price is so cheap. but after a few years we see that bitcoin prices have begun to show its strength and magic. I think if the price of bitcoin reaches 1 million then it is a miracle that is quite awaited by everyone.

I want to say impossible but the price spike of BTC over the years is making me question it.

I do not believe in such sky-high perspective but on the other hand who in 2010 was able to believe that bitcoin will be worth $ 4,000. Bitcoin has the ability to surprise. But for me the price of bitcoin is not the most important of its advantages. I like it and its present price.

if one could say that it would top gold market cap (some 7 trillion)  then the price of btc should be around 333k , some 1/3 of a million (if all 21 millions ever mined)

And we all know or understand (or at least only me) that it will not be like gold for the simply reason that hundrends or  thousands of crypto alt currensies will exist in the near future, offering exact same futures, or maybe even better than btc (i mean we don't really expect that state governments will not compete one way or another with the btc creating their own versions or new ones. )

PS ofcourse there is always the possibility that US$ collapse , taking with it the whole world , and then the US$ might devalue so much that 1 million might happen really soon, but buying power will also be different

But you did not say 1 million of what currency,you probably think of the american dollar which is lost in value and which will be further weakened compared to some other currencies.My opinion is that such high value of 1 BTC can be reached in future if it were recognized throughout the world as a legitimate currency of payment.Considering that some countries are working on their own development of digital currency I doubt that BTC have chance to become so powerfull.

I think it's still too exaggerated expect such high price because we are so far away from 10 000$ and most of us would be happy to see 100 000$ during our lifetime

Also one rumor is that China will reopen exchange at the end of October, if this is true, the price will go through roofff.

That would make it 1.5 times more valuable than gold at current supply levles. That would have to mean governments were getting in on it but doesn't feel too likely right now but who knows what the future holds.

That's at current buying power. If bitcoin survives a one million dollar valuation is inevitable due to nothing but inflation.

That looks fictional, but if the entire world accepts bitcoin surely the price peaks high to certain level because of the limitations on the supply of coins through mining. If this happens in reality the entire population will be elite, but I don't know how the value will be calculated, because at present we valuate equaling it to USD.

Why ask? It is going to be what it is going to be. Perhaps less focus on predicting the far future and more effort on developing the here and now and we will have few issues around. But, of course you can do as you wish, but I think that this is the underlying issue that makes us an outcast in the true development world. We should focus on things which can make bitcoin value this much high in reality.

It's not impossible but won't be happening anytime soon. You should be considering the market cap and demand when expecting such value of bitcoin. And do keep in mind that bitcoin is still in its infant stage.

Certainly possible. But that would be at the point when the whole world uses bitcoin. We're talking billions of people.

So the real question is, can bitcoin scale to billions of users while lowering fees back down to the order of a few cents??

On-chain can never handle that many transactions. So if there is a secure, well designed, cheap, and easy to use off chain solution, in addition to more on-chain scaling in the future, then bitcoin can get to billions of users. Current prospect is Lightning Network but from what I've heard I think it is pretty up in the air as to whether that is the scaling solution we are looking for.


But if bitcoin can successfully handle the daily transactions of a few billion people, then yeah I think that could put bitcoin at around $1 million USD. It's definitely more than a decade out, maybe in the 2030's if it does happen. At the very least I think we'll be somewhere in the six-digits in 5 years.
