And for my second post I stoop to the low levels of begging...

If anyone wants to help me start my bitcoin wallet, my address is 13WZAEsrYMpMprFJhU8r2HafdBQHfGQc5e

 Tongue

Nothing has arrived yet, I don't mind as it was free but I was wondering if I'm doing this right?

I just have the bitcoin client on my pc and it generated me an address, which is above.  If I don't pay a transaction fee should it have arrived by now or does it take longer?

Thanks everyone!  Smiley

Your client should normally be showing 8 connections on the status bar, and you need to download all the blocks. The block count is currently up to 133845 so if you client is showing less than that (in the status bar), then you'll need to wait for it to get up-to-date before you see your correct balance.

You could always try setting up Bitcoin patched that can import keys. I'm giving BTC away on a first come first serve basis. I post the address and the private key. Anyone can take it. You just have to re-send it to yourself to make sure no one else takes it...

BTC up for grabs at: https://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=23521.0

Newbie reminder: you may want to use a new wallet to try figuring out how to get it. Don't lose the original wallet!

I'm not Nigerian either (or I might, but who cares  Grin)

I'm a newbie who has never received any bitcoins, and I'm having trouble buying them, and I don't have the hardware to do serious mining. So currently I can't experiment with them  Cry

If someone donates me an amount of bitcoins before I manage to buy some, I promise I'll donate twice that amount back into this thread (maximum BTC 0.01; this offer expires after 1 august 2011).

Edit: I forgot to mention my Bitcoin address:
1KNgGhVJx4yKupWicMenyg6SLoS68nA6S8

Edit 2: I just managed to buy some Bitcoins, so my offer is no longer valid. However, I still like the idea of giving small donations to newbies. I need some experience with Bitcoins too, so I'll send some small amounts to people in this thread when I like to do so.
