It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Well, I mine .01 BTC in about 25 minutes, so I don't know why that would enter into it.

i guess i'm late on this game, but i *never* received anything from the faucet, and i'm pretty sure i did everything correctly, i can't properly mine (netbook anyone?) but it's nice to see that people out there are giving noobs a chance.

What else could I say?

So far as I know, the bitcoin faucet still works for a free .005 BTC.

Also, any newbies who don't mind viewing a few ads can rack up several bitcents at:

dailybitcoins.org

You can visit once a day, and get free bitcents each time, with a slim chance at getting a "jackpot" payout of 2 or 3 bitcoins.

Bitcoin is the ultimate freedom test. It tells you who is giving lip service and who genuinely believes in it.

ATTENTION BFL MINING NEWBS: Just got your Jalapenos in? Wondering how to get the most value for the least hassle? Give BitMinter a try! It's a smaller pool with a fair & low-fee payment method, lots of statistical feedback, and it's easier than EasyMiner! (Yes, we want your hashing power, but seriously, it IS the easiest pool to use! Sign up in seconds to try it!)

My mistake. Above is the correct URL, and I'll edit my original post too.
