as no one has started yet I've edited my post above to tweak the 1 BTC bonus part so as to advantage those who participate earliest - note that the first 2 tx on the BE were prior gifts to ILC & so are not part of the competition though these senders are welcome to send a little more & so join in if they wish

I'm new to the whole BTC idea. However, I've become very interested in moving the majority of my transactions to BTC Cheesy I've tried mining, however, I really don't have the mining power to get it done (560ti has nothing on some of the high end cards!).

I'm hoping someone might be willing to help start me out with any amount of bitcoins. From there I'd like to learn to play the market prices a bit and try to afford some better mining equipment. I also plan on devising something unique that people will enjoy from there Smiley Potentially a contractor to mine for others. It's a long way off, but I'm dreaming Smiley

Got it!  Thank you so much.

What fun!

You also need to post here your sending/receiving address as it's one tx per forum ID, open to everyone who has a forum ID registered before this post, if it overshoots 10 donations then you've just made an extra free gift to ILoveComputers  Smiley
Ok thought I would join in here too, and thanks for your most generous offer.

Didn't see or realize until after sending 23mBTC's to ILC, that the 1st two transactions were before your offer, in any case passed the coin on, as requested, should show up in the BE, hmm so far it hasn't, my wallet is showing 1 of 6 confirms, guess I'm still somewhat confused by BE, making this a good way to learn.  Patience....there we go, showing up for me now...

Anyways, again here is my address.
1AhWgEPJx2rCoUcgeLGQhQbnA7wjiuTfNs

GR

ETA: Otoh, I'm still confused by the BE, what I see is an amount, date that are correct and so it must be from me, but the To/From column lists an address that is a mystery to me,  I've never understood that column nor an idea if it's an address that belongs to me or not, how can I tell?  Nothing in my bitcoin-qt wallet lists that address.  It certainly is not the one I posted above, nor the one I sent to, if you look at ILC's address, it's there now listed as:  1EkB23rhZpPH4xcfDgKMBgtPhFavTvLrmA
Got to go hike the dogs, will try to figure this out later tonight, always more to learn!  Grin

@Otoh - So spent sometime with Block Explorer (BE), best I can figure, is that when I send out coin to someones address, a counterparty address is generated for me on that transaction, this is the address I mentioned in the ETA (Edit to ADD) text of my previous post.

Soooo... what you were asking all of us Newbie's for orignally, after contributing to ILC's address, was view BlockExplorer on it, provide you with that address on us, so you can then match our avatar to that address and know only one contributor to one forum member id...

Does that sound about right?

Not sure if I'm getting a 'A' or 'F' on this test, perhaps 'E' for effort, as yet no one else seems to have stepped up to the plate & offered to join the party.  This really is a wonderful offer you've given us to make a little coin & have an opportunity to learn allot!

Come on in Newbies, we need 9 more!

Thanks Otoh for putting this on!

Hi GR - I'm very glad that you appreciate it, I was about to cancel the offer due to the lack of interest, it seemed to me peeps would just stick their hand out for some free tiny Satoshies but wouldn't bother to make any small effort to gain some & learn about how Bitcoins work in the process even when offered many times more, as for just how the BE & wallets work I'm not an expert on that so it's a learning process for me too, I'll let someone else explain if they'd like to or maybe you've worked it out already - I'll look in to it too but I don't even use the Bitcoin client wallet atm, I use blockchain.info wallet which I'd highly recommend & there your sending & receiving address are the same & show up in BE

Anyway while there's still some confusion about how it works then it's best to do as you did & post here the amount you've sent along with your address to receive the 0.1 BTC, which I'm sending you now to 1AhWgEPJx2rCoUcgeLGQhQbnA7wjiuTfNs & good luck for the 1 BTC prize, your score is 0.023 * 10 = 0.23

BTW - I'd also sent 0.05 BTC to most all the newbies who asked here over the last couple of days, but am stopping doing this now due to the reasons in my first para above

Thanks again GR! A+ for you  Smiley

If there are no other entries in the next 24 hrs then I'll cancel the game & split the prizes between you & ILC

edit: the blockchain.info wallet is having some issues atm, see other threads, I'll send the 0.1 BTC once they sort this out

well as blockchain.info wallet was down (it's now back up) & because I'm in a good mood today, I've decided to extend the deadline on my game for 24 hours more from now - see my posts on the previous page, if no one else wishes to participate then prizes go to GR & ILC this time tomorrow - Enjoy!  Grin
